  • Today, we have reached a historic partnership agreement with Mercosur 🇪🇺🇦🇷🇧🇷🇵🇾🇺🇾 This is Mercosur’s first deal with a global partner, strengthening cooperation between two of the world’s largest trade blocs.   • What do Europeans think About 🇪🇺 Trade Agreements for agriculture and consumers? 🌾 The latest Eurobarometer survey on ‘Europeans, Agriculture, and the CAP’ reveals that EU trade agreements are widely seen as beneficial, with a large majority of Europeans believing they bring significant advantages for both EU agriculture and consumers. Key findings: 🍽️Positive impact for consumers: Around seven in ten (71%) believe trade agreements between the EU and other countries, aimed at facilitating the exchange of agricultural and food products, have been positive for them as consumers. 🌍 Diversification and competition: At least three-quarters (76%) agree these agreements ensure diversification of markets and supplies of agricultural products in the EU, while 75% say they expose EU agricultural producers to competition from third countries. 🌱 Enhancing exports and promoting standards: More than seven in ten (73%) think these deals enhance exports of EU agricultural products globally, and 71% believe they promote EU labour and environmental standards, including animal welfare, for agricultural production in other countries. This survey provides valuable insights into public opinion across all 27 EU Member States, conducted between 13 June and 8 July 2024.   • Today, we have imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) imports from Egypt and the USA. The investigation revealed that dumped imports caused significant harm to 🇪🇺 producers, leading to market share losses and threatening the industry's viability. Without action, plant closures across the Union were a real risk. Duties, ranging from 74.2% to 100.1% for Egypt and 58% to 77% for the USA, will protect an industry employing 4,000 people across 7 Member States.
