The MultiHome project aims to create an integrated customer-centered housing renovation service in Plovdiv Region (Bulgaria) by building a mutually beneficial cooperation between all public authorities, businesses, financial institutions involved in renovation and citizens.   Homeowners are at the heart of the renovation journey. MultiHome therefore engages ‘lead users’, i.e. homeowners who have already completed their renovation journey and are more aware of its ups and downs.   During special sessions for ‘lead user’ in three districts of Plovdiv City, the MultiHome team met with individual homeowners, representatives of homeowners’ associations, professional building managers and active citizens who are beneficiaries of the National Renovation Programme. MultiHome #RenovateTogether Third partners’ meeting   👉🏠 The MultiHome project, dedicated to single- and multi-family buildings’ renovation in the Plovdiv region, entered its eighth working month by realizing a number of its goals, set for the first half of the year. The project partners held their third meeting on June 19. The meeting was also attended by Adrien Bullier, Senior Project Advisor on Energy Efficiency Finance at the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency CINEA. 🤝The first meeting of the Regional Advisory Council for Housing Renovation was also held, including representatives of the regional administrations within the Plovdiv municipality and municipal experts from the 17 municipalities of the region. Experts from the Sustainable Energy Development Agency (SEDA) joined as a monitoring body at national level. Learning about the just transition taking place in Asturias region💡 For the second project meeting of #JUSTEM, partners gathered in Gijon, a city in the beautiful region of Asturias, Spain 🇪🇸. Over 2 days, #JUSTEM partners exchanged ideas, challenges and pivotal moments and got to experience first-hand the transition away from coal that the region of Asturias is currently experiencing. Partners visited a former coal mine which has been turned into a geothermal facility and a power plant that will be converted into a biomass factory (see the video below for some highlights). Reducing and preventing #energypoverty is the key poverty-related challenge in the context of #justtransitions. 💡 Our dear #JUSTEM partner Eleonora Gaydarova from CAC Centrе for Sustainable Housing joined a panel on "Just transition combatting energy poverty" at the Just Transition Platform Conference. Eleonora stressed the importance: 1) To understand the status of the local/regional situation of energy poverty. 2) To move from identifying risks of poverty and impacts of transitions, to assess local capacities to address them and define measure to tackle energy poverty. 3) 3 critical “elements” that must be considered: The built, the social and the just. 🕯 Just transition processes could amplify energy poverty, if not specific measures are addressed to eradicate energy poverty in just transition regions. My 5 take aways are: - We often focus on *income* and not *costs of living* when studying poverty. The difference matters. - There is a lack of data on energy poverty. - We need to see who is addressed by the measures - ensure that the most vulnerable are targeted and that different distributional impacts and employment effects are considered. - We need to fight against silos – pull resources and mind together so solve the problems together. - We should not talk about alleviating but eradicating poverty. #poverty #justice #energytransition #energypolicy #socialjustice #JTP #JTM #EU #Lifeproject
