Just amazing!
3D Printing an ear. The process begins by capturing a 3D impression of the patient’s unaffected ear. This serves as a blueprint for creating a replica. Next, cartilage cells are collected from the patient’s ear. These cells provide the biological foundation for creating a living ear implant. The harvested cartilage cells are then cultured in a lab to multiply and obtain a sufficient quantity. Once cultured, the cells are mixed with a collagen hydrogel. This hydrogel serves as a scaffold, allowing the cells to grow while maintaining the shape and structure of the printed ear. The hydrogel-cell mixture is then used to 3D Print the ear implant. To provide structural support, the implant is surrounded by a biodegradable, 3D-printed shell. This shell helps maintain the integrity of the implant during the initial stages of integration. Over time, the biodegradable shell is absorbed by the patient’s body. As this happens, the implant becomes fully integrated with the surrounding tissues. Finally, the transplanted ear develops the look, feel, and elasticity of a natural ear. Source: p4hbionics #45ideas #BusinessStrategy #3DPrinting #AM #AdditiveManufacturing ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d7EtwqiE
