From Concept to Reality: How Kinetik Turns Engineering Into Art The 1977 Porsche 911 Targa is a car that hardly needs an introduction. With its iconic silhouette, unmistakable Targa roof, and cult following, it has etched itself into automotive history. But what happens when you take its rumbling flat-six engine, and replace it with an electric powertrain? That’s the challenge we took on at Kinetik Automotive—yes, we know, some of you just gasped, “Sacrilege!” So, why would anyone even think of taking such a step? Simple: because it’s fun. The world doesn’t need another electric vehicle (EV), but we think it could use more cars with character. Giving an old classic a second life while keeping its essence intact—that’s something we’re genuinely passionate about. This wasn’t about jumping on the latest EV bandwagon or chasing social media likes. It was about showing that you can respect a car’s legacy and still bring it into the modern age. No gimmicks, just a fresh approach. The process wasn’t quick. Far from it, actually. We’ve spent A LOT of time testing, tweaking, and re-testing to make sure the driving experience stays true to the original Targa. The engineers took great care to keep the weight distribution balanced, ensuring the car remains as nimble and fun to drive as it always was. The battery pack was carefully designed to fit without compromising the car’s structure or adding unnecessary bulk. Integrating a 325 kW (with 435 HP) electric motor was no small feat, especially when balancing the weight to maintain the original 40/60 distribution that makes the Targa such a joy to drive. To handle the increased power, we significantly improved the regenerative braking system and upgraded the suspension, ensuring they could meet the demands of the more powerful motor and the instant torque. When you step into the driver’s seat, experience seamless acceleration, and feel that familiar connection to the road—albeit with silent, effortless power—it’s clear that the effort was worth it. Turning an idea into reality is never easy, but seeing this car combines classic design and future-ready engineering? That’s a feeling we’ll never get tired of. #KinetikAutomotive #Restomod #Kinetik

This past weekend, we had the honor of joining an incredible gathering of Porsche enthusiasts in Bansko to celebrate 20 years of Porsche in Bulgaria. Our electric Restomod definitely caught some attention! People were surprised to see this classic 1977 Porsche Targa go electric, and the questions came rolling in - everything from how the conversion works, how long it took to build, to what it's like to drive.
