Rumors so far say Apple is increasing the display of the iPhone 16 Pro Max to 6.9 inches versus the 6.7-inch version we knew so far with the iPhone 15 Pro Max and older models. While leaked CAD files made us believe the difference wouldn’t be crazy, an iPhone 16 Pro Max mockup shows otherwise, and even a few millimeters can make this upcoming device huge and clunky in hands.

As posted by Daniel, also known as ZONEofTECH on X, the comparison between the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max feels like it’s pretty hard to hold the new phone in hand, and the possible new camera bump also makes everything bulkier. While the mockup gives a nice first impression, Apple will still polish everything up in the official version, such as decreasing the bezel of all iPhone 16 models by using a new Border Reduction Structure technology, which rolls up the internal copper wiring into a compact package.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max mockup also shows the upcoming Capture Button, which might make the iPhone work similarly to a DSLR camera. Rumors believe that pressing halfway through the button locks in focus or exposure. Then, after fully pressing it, it would take the photo.

Besides that, we recently heard that Apple wants to add a 20% brighter display to the new iPhone 16 Pro models. With that, the SDR brightness would be 1,200 nits compared to the 1,000 nits of the previous generations. The standard maximum brightness has been unchanged since the iPhone 13 Pro, and Apple hasn’t improved HDR peak brightness since the iPhone 14 Pro, with up to 2,000 nits.

The Elec has also said that the next iPhone display could be even brighter as Samsung and LG have apparently demoed micro-lens arrays (MLA) OLED panels to Apple.

Below, you can discover all the latest iPhone 16 rumors we have gathered so far.
