NBB is proud to announce the selection of 13 of its employees in the highly competitive and prestigious Harvard Business School Executive Leadership Training programmes, organised by Tamkeen Designed in collaboration with Harvard Business Corporate Learning and EMIC Training and led by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, this initiative aims to enhance the leadership and adaptability of Bahraini professionals through intensive training in #leadership, digital transformation, collaboration, and #strategic decision-making. NBB continues to strengthen Bahrain's #financial ecosystem by providing access to world-class executive education.

At the conclusion ceremony of the esteemed Lamea programme, Fatema Mohamed, Corporate Digital Platforms Lead at NBB, was honoured by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS). The #recognition stems from the outstanding #leadership, commitment, and dedication to #excellence she exhibited throughout the programme. Organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in collaboration with the Institute of Public Administration, the Lamea programme empowers Bahraini #youth with essential leadership training and opportunities to plan strategic projects that can make a meaningful impact on the Kingdom.

NBB Group announces the annual #financial highlights for 2024

NBB has introduced its Sustainable Finance Framework, a comprehensive guide that serves to link the Bank’s financing initiatives to its #ESG strategy. Developed in collaboration with Standard Chartered Bahrain as the Sustainability Structuring Advisor, the framework adheres to the ICMA - International Capital Market Association’s (ICMA) Green and Social Bond Principles and the Loan Market Association (LMA) Green and Social Loan Principles. It has also been validated through a Second Party Opinion (SPO) issued by ISS Corporate Solutions. The framework establishes a structured approach for NBB to evaluate parameters in the #financing of eco-conscious projects, such as #renewableenergy, clear transportation, Green Buildings and Employment Generation management, and more. By integrating global best practices and setting clear guidelines for #sustainable funding, the framework reinforces NBB’s key role in championing responsible financing in alignment with Bahrain’s long-term vision for a resilient and sustainable future.

NBB was the Strategic Partner of the recently held Sustainability Forum Middle East Middle East 2025, which was a remarkable gathering of #visionaries and thought leaders committed to driving climate action and environmental resilience. Zaina Alzayani NBB’s Group Head of Strategy & Sustainability, participated as a speaker on a panel about “The #Strategic Intersection of Climate Action and Long-Term Value Creation.” During her session, she highlighted the importance of integrating #sustainability into core organisational operations and how institutions like NBB are aligning green initiatives with #business success, shareholder expectations, and national #economic growth plans.

NBB has concluded the second edition of the Digital #Banking Challenge organised in collaboration with the Bahrain FinTech Bay (BFB). Two exceptional teams were announced as winners for developing and showcasing #innovative, customer-centric and #sustainable digital banking solutions. The initiative provided participants with expert-led workshops, industry exposure, and hands-on experience to equip them with the acumen to become future fintech #leaders. In addition to cash prizes, the winning teams were awarded exclusive internship #opportunities at NBB and BFB.

In an interview published by Oxford Business Group, NBB Group CEO Usman Ahmed highlighted the vital role of the Bahraini banking sector in achieving national sustainability goals. He discussed the impact of mandatory #ESG disclosures on attracting global #investors, the importance of #sustainable finance frameworks in managing climate-related risks, and how #fintech can expand financial inclusion and economic productivity. Usman also emphasized the need for robust governance to address data security and AI biases, and the significance of supporting SMEs and enhancing #financial literacy to drive positive social impact and Bahrain’s economic growth. NBB’s Group Head of Strategy & Sustainability Zaina Alzayani will represent the Bank at the Sustainability Forum Middle East 2025 in Bahrain on 28th and 29th January in the presence of the Minister of Oil and #Environment, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, H.E. Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Daina, and with the support of the Supreme Council for Environment. Zaina will be a key speaker in a panel discussion titled “The #Strategic Intersection of Climate Action and Long-Term Value Creation” where she will share insights on how #sustainability drives #innovation, growth, and national climate resilience.

Khalid Al Shammari, Legal Counsel and Board Secretary at NBB, recently participated as a guest speaker in a session titled “How to Identify and Evaluate Opportunities in the Legal Field.” Held on 20th November, the talk was part of an ongoing collaborative lecture series organised by the University of Bahrain (UOB) College of Law and the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI). It aims to prepare UoB law #students to assess #opportunities in the #legal and related fields, and align their experiences with their long-term career aspirations. Khalid shared practical guidance and #strategic decision-making tips to help students capitalise on prospects that contribute meaningfully to their #professional growth, such as internships, volunteer roles, and competitions.

NBB has announced its #support for the Bahrain Padel Federation Youth Academy initiative that aims to prepare emerging players of the sport in Bahrain to compete internationally. The Bank’s support will enable the Federation to implement key programmes, including advanced #training and #development efforts to enhance the skill level of young athletes and promote the #growth of the sport in the Kingdom.
