Celebrating Impact: Highlights from the YALI Alumni Expo and Trade Show (YALI Expo) 2024. We are thrilled to share the incredible experience of the YALI Burundi Chapter at the YALI Alumni Expo and Trade Show held from November 11 to 14, 2024, in the vibrant city of Cape Town, South Africa! This event, coinciding with the @AfricaTechFestival, brought together thousands of innovators, entrepreneurs, and change-makers, creating a dynamic space for networking and collaboration. With 13 YALI alumni from Burundi in attendance, we had the unique opportunity to learn from inspiring leaders, mobilize new partnerships, and showcase the transformative impact we are making in our communities. Our Chairperson, Jimmy Ndihokubwayo , also participated in the Learning Summit, where valuable insights were exchanged, further enriching our collective mission. Nihimbazwe Olivier, Bora Donatien, Iradukunda Landry Claude, Irambona Divine, Irakoze Ange Raissa, Manirakiza Janvier, NSABIYUMVA Savin Savin, Ndihokubwayo Jimmy, Munezero Esthere, ITANGANEZA Lucrèce , Ndayizeye Emery, Nsavyimana Yves Jacket, and Audace Ndabahawe represented Burundi well! This gathering was not just about celebration; it was a pivotal moment for our chapter. Chairperson Jimmy had fruitful discussions with staff from YALI Regional Leadership Center - West Africa - Dakar and YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa led respectively by Bara NDIAYE and George Kosimbei highlighting the progress and impact of the Burundi chapter. Additionally, he connected with @USAID Kenya and @USAID Senegal, and other leaders from other country chapters, engaging in meaningful conversations about the future of YALI and the ways each chapter is driving positive change in their respective countries. The Chairperson also shared the Chapter vision for upcoming initiatives, including the highly anticipated YALI Impact Event scheduled for the end of January 2025. The YALI Expo reinforced our commitment to driving sustainable change and emphasized the importance of collaboration among alumni. Together, we can continue to empower our communities and create a lasting legacy. Let’s keep the momentum going! We are pleased to welcome the Burundian young leaders who have completed the YALI Cohort 59 program in Nairobi, Kenya at YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa . This transformative experience has empowered participants with essential knowledge and skills in civic leadership, public management, business and entrepreneurship, as well as the principles outlined in "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." Additionally, they have gained valuable insights into inclusion, diversity, and equity. Through this program, the participants have acquired the tools necessary to lead with purpose, foster positive change, and make a significant impact within their communities and beyond. Today is the day-D. I was graduated as a YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa Alumnus. This day mark the end and the commencement. It's the successful end of transformative empowerment, the end of ignorance. It's then the commencement of the transformative Leadership, service and the redevability to my community. Let's write new pages of our life, success and Commitment. Let's make Africa as better as we can. Let's be a hummingbird. I believe in you, as I believe in myself. I have begun a new journey of self-transformation to achieve community transformation. During this period of self-exploration, I prefer to concentrate on transformation of myself, communicate little, as I am working hard. 🌍 I had the honor of participating in YALI Cohort 59, an incredible experience that, from the first two weeks, has provided me with a wealth of learning. It’s beyond the Certificate! Reflecting on the one-month training at YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa with my colleagues, I realize how much we’ve gained in such a short time. Truly, it’s been a transformative experience. From course content to refining our pitch decks and presentations, and from engaging with insightful guest speakers—both online and offline—we’ve learned a great deal. And what can I say about the incredible colleagues I’ve met along the way? I look forward to revisiting and sharing some of the key lessons learned. Exciting news for the YALI Burundi community! On Sunday, September 15, 2024, YALI Alumni Burundi Chapter officials and 10 alumni from YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa and YALI Regional Leadership Center - West Africa - Dakar gathered for a productive leadership retreat at the Source of the Nile Hotel. Under the leadership of Chairperson Jimmy Ndihokubwayo they worked to refine the statutes and internal regulations, marking key steps toward the official legalization of the YALI Alumni Burundi Chapter . This initiative is funded by the YALI RLC EA Nairobi Secretariat Fund and sets the stage for the highly anticipated "YALI Impact" event happening in #Bujumbura in November 2024.
