A couple of months ago, we noticed a considerably brighter rainforest scene in the Living with the Land boat ride at EPCOT. For those unfamiliar, Living with the Land is essentially a two-part slow-moving boat ride that talks about the impact that humans have had on the land through agriculture. The first half of the ride takes guests through various environments, presenting challenges and benefits that our diverse planet presents us.

As it turns out, maintenance on the attraction didn’t stop with just one scene. As part of ongoing efforts stretching back to when the parks reopened from the COVID-19 closures, crews are refreshing and restoring the classic EPCOT attraction. It’s awesome to see the care that the ride is receiving, especially at a time when its popularity isn’t anywhere near the top of the list of attractions at EPCOT.
We’ll start back in the rainforest scene, which has seen the introduction of some vibrant reds since we first noticed the all-blue lighting updates.
From there, the next big change is the restoration of the brush fire in the American prairie scene. This was missing in recent years, and the effect of lighting striking an open field behind the buffalo was lost. Now, the effect has been restored and the scene is looking great! Lighting strikes can be seen in the distance as buffalo graze in the foreground and prairie dogs pop up and down.
