David Nyika

10-0-0

In his second reign Opetaia makes the second defence of his IBF Cruiserweight title against Aussie-based New Zealander David Nyika. For the first time in two-and-a-half years the champion will fight back home in Australia and at the same venue where he won the title first time around against Mairis Briedis. Nyika steps in to replace Huseyin Cinkara who withdrew due to injury. Nyika is arguably a tougher opponent and brings a strong amateur pedigree having won two Commonwealth Gold medals and Olympic Bronze at the delayed Tokyo Games in 2021. But taking on Opetaia represents a huge step up in class from anyone he’s faced as a pro so far.

Woodall, however, made a name for himself in June 2024 stopping former world-rated super middleweight Lerrone Richards. Simpson vs Woodall is the first major UK televised fight of 2025.

‘The Monster’ is back. After its original date of December 24 was postponed due to a cut suffered by Sam Goodman in training the Australian now faces the unenviable challenge of tackling Naoya Inoue on January 24 in Japan. Inoue will once again defend his undisputed super bantamweight crown in a fight he is heavily favoured to win. Victory could kick off a busy 2025 for the boxing superstar who is rumoured to be returning to America for a fight next year with a super-fight against Junto Nakatani also in the works.

Sheffield’s Smith will hope to pick up from where he left off in March 2024 when he knocked out former world title challenger Jose Zepeda in five rounds.
