2024 was a transformative year for 17Sigma as we continued our journey to become one of the leading early-stage VCs in Latin America. Despite market challenges, momentum steadily built, reaffirming our belief in the region’s immense potential. Latin America remains highly underdeveloped in venture capital, with early-stage funding representing <0.2% of GDP compared to >1% in developed markets. Yet, the region boasts a population of over 650 million—nearly double that of the US—and a GDP surpassing India’s, alongside one of the fastest-growing internet adoption rates globally and a booming pool of world-class founders. Despite these strengths, early-stage capital remains scarce, presenting massive opportunities for those willing to back the next wave of innovation and tackle the region’s unique dynamics.
