  • On December 2nd, Hind Ribeiro-Bidaoui, Counselor and Head of Political Affairs, Public Diplomacy, Culture, and Communication at the Embassy of the Netherlands, participated in a meaningful agenda in Salvador, aligned with the global #OrangetheWorld campaign and the National Forum of Judges on Domestic Violence Against Women Fonavid Oficial. The event, held during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, served as a crucial platform to discuss the fight against violence towards women and to strengthen the protection network for domestic violence victims in Brazil. During the Forum, Hind had the honor of highlighting the Embassy of the Netherlands' support for the translation of the Maria da Penha Law, a key piece of legislation in Brazil aimed at combating domestic violence. With the goal of broadening access to justice for women in vulnerable situations, the Embassy is supporting the translation of the law into Spanish, French, English, and Haitian Creole. This initiative, carried out in partnership with the NGO Geledés Instituto da Mulher Negra, aims to ensure that women who do not speak Portuguese—particularly those in migration contexts—can access their rights and find support in protection networks. In addition to FONAVID, Hind also visited important institutions in Salvador, such as the Museu Carlos Pinto, which hosted the congress "Savior of the Dutch: Between the Hispanic Monarchy and the Netherlands (1624-1625)" in April of this year, and Koinonia – Ecumenical Presence and Service, an NGO working with vulnerable communities and promoting social justice. Her visit to Cine Glauber Rocha, a cultural center that preserves and promotes Salvador’s cinematic legacy, was also an opportunity to discuss future partnerships. Furthermore, the visit to the Quilombola Territory of Boca do Rio, in Candeias, alongside representatives from the #VozesNegrasPeloClima project, was a moment of reflection on the challenges faced by quilombola communities, such as the fight for environmental preservation, especially in the context of discussions on #climatejustice and #sustainability.

  • This morning, we had the privilege of participating in the event “Perspectives on Integrity and Combating Corruption,” an initiative by Transparência Internacional - Brasil in partnership with Insper Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa and supported by the Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in São Paulo. Key topics were: •The new study by TI and Quaest on the perception of compliance executives in 2024. To be published soon. •The impact of the “Secret Budget” and the balance of powers, highlighting the challenges for democracy. The Dutch government believes that transparency, ethics, and integrity are fundamental pillars for sustainable development and the strengthening of healthy democracies. That is why we - together with the Consulado Geral da Bélgica, the German Consulate and Norway in Brazil - support these type of initiatives, which foster dialogue, exchange of experiences, and the advancement of ethical practices in organizations. The role companies can play is fundamental, eg by exchanging best practices, hereby raising the bar and inspiring others. Our team (sao-ea@minbuza.nl) is happy to facilitate these exchanges together with frontrunners. https://lnkd.in/d54Y3sn #Integrity #Transparency #Governance #AntiCorruption #Sustainability Wieneke Vullings Vasco Rodrigues Afke Mulder Dutcham - Dutch Brazilian Chamber of Commerce Gabriela Presti
