Our Seafarers Happiness Index (SHI) report for Q4 2024 identifies the first downturn for four quarters in seafarers satisfaction, with restrictive port policies highlighted as a significant impediment to seafarer welfare. The survey plays a pivotal role in the maritime industry, acting as a barometer of key challenges facing those at sea and highlighting areas for improvement. Here, the survey has identified a need for improvement in areas such as shore leave for rest and recharge, and connectivity, which is often unreliable or unusable. The Mission to Seafarers is extremely grateful to Idwal, NorthStandard and Inmarsat for their continued support.
