PlanetaryX Launches Innovative Biodiversity Resilience Assets (B.R.A.s) Project in Southern Bahia! This February, PlanetaryX initiated an innovative project for generating Biodiversity Resilience Assets (B.R.A.s) in southern Bahia, covering a 10,500-hectare area linked to cocoa production. With a total of 36 plots—many of them in agroforestry systems (SAFs) and the Cabruca model, where cocoa grows under the forest’s shade—the project aims to consolidate a sustainable production model alongside environmental conservation. In the first week of the month, PlanetaryX’s coordination team visited the field to assess the area and define sampling points. On February 9, the field team arrived in the region and began biodiversity inventories, a crucial step for the certification of B.R.A.s. A total of 41 plots of 1,000 square meters of forest will be analyzed, along with mangrove and wetland areas, making this PlanetaryX’s first project in the Atlantic Forest and coastal ecosystems. Beyond its environmental and social impact, the initiative also stands out for its use of cutting-edge technologies. These include environmental DNA analysis, which provides a more precise assessment of local biodiversity, and real-time soil evaluation equipment, implemented in partnership with GROINN. These tools add new layers of data to the process, enhancing reliability in B.R.A. generation. This is the first step in a large-scale project that aims to expand to other regions of Brazil, strengthening the connection between environmental conservation and the regenerative economy!
