    Making education relevant for tomorrow

It was a privilege to attend and speak at the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific in Macau 🇲🇴 . I’m inspired by the depth of insight shared by so many leaders in the field. Former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon set the tone with a powerful message on education as a foundation for a more equitable, sustainable world. His words reminded us all of the transformative power universities hold—not only to educate but to shape societies, economies, and the future itself. A few key themes that emerged from the summit: 1️⃣ Universities as Global Catalysts: Higher education is evolving beyond the classroom to impact communities on a global scale. Leaders discussed ways institutions can support economic and social development, particularly through partnerships with governments and industries. 2️⃣ Bridging Gaps Between Education and Workforce Needs: One of the biggest challenges remains aligning academic programs with real-world demands. We discussed concrete strategies to help universities stay responsive to job market shifts, ensuring students are prepared for future workforce realities rather than yesterday’s. 3️⃣ The Future of Learning is Lifelong: As career paths become more dynamic, continuous learning is no longer optional. Institutions are rethinking how they support alumni and mid-career professionals with opportunities to upskill, reskill, and stay competitive in their fields. Being part of these conversations was both a privilege and a call to action. Higher education has the opportunity—and responsibility—to adapt in ways that foster resilience and opportunity for all. I am looking forward to continuing these critical discussions and working together toward impactful change. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this summit unforgettable! Making education relevant for tomorrow

Last week, I had the opportunity to participate as a panellist at the EduDigiTrends Conference at Universidad El Bosque. We explored the future of higher education and how artificial intelligence and data analytics are revolutionizing this field. 🔍 One of the questions I was asked was about how we foresee these tools transforming education in the coming years. The use of data and artificial intelligence have fundamentally changed many industries, and higher education will be no exception. Here are my reflections, inspired by Simon Sinek's Golden Circle: 🎯 The why: The purpose will always remain the same. Empowering people through education to develop their potential, foster innovation, and positively impact society. 🤖 The how: Artificial intelligence will help us personalize and dynamize teaching, evolving towards more flexible education models focused on lifelong learning. 📈 The what: Data analysis allows us to understand what we should be teaching. With data, we can now identify what society, industry, and students need. At QS Quacquarelli Symonds 1Mentor Inc., we design solutions that address the what and the how while always keeping our why in mind. We develop analytical tools to understand the labor market's needs and AI solutions that facilitate personalized learning paths and promote continuous skill development. 💡 I am excited about the future of education and how people are coming together in conferences like this to contribute to this transformative change. Thank you, Jorge Alberto Osorio, Natalia Ruiz Rodgers, Paola Jiménez Uribe, Parra Roman Natalia and the entire team at Universidad El Bosque for creating such valuable spaces for the industry. #FutureofHigherEducation #Education #ArtificialIntelligence #DataAnalytics #1Mentor

When people think of QS Quacquarelli Symonds, rankings often come to mind, but that’s just a fraction of what we do. In reality, only 6% of our team focuses on rankings. The vast majority, 94%, is dedicated to something much larger: helping universities worldwide improve the quality of education, bridge the gap between academia and industry, and create lasting solutions for the future of employability.   Our true focus is on building strategic partnerships with universities around the world, offering them meaningful insights and solutions to help them thrive in today’s competitive landscape. From boosting employability outcomes to advancing sustainability initiatives and strengthening global collaboration, we’re committed to bridging the gap between academia and society's evolving demands.   With the acquisitions of 1Mentor Inc. and HolonIQ, we’re expanding our capacity to deliver world-class insights and innovations to the higher education sector. This collaboration strengthens our mission to support institutions with the tools and data they need to adapt and succeed in an ever-changing world.   Education is transforming, and we’re proud to be part of that change. Making education relevant for tomorrow

Last week, I had the pleasure of moderating the panel “It’s Time to Evolve: Driving Innovation, Data-driven Decision Making, and Industry Alignment” at the QS Higher Ed Summit: Americas in Mexico City. We explored how these institutions are driving innovation at every step of the student journey, and I wanted to share a few key takeaways: 🏔️ Carolina González from CESA highlighted the need to redefine the “student journey.” In the past, individuals typically made education decisions twice in their lives—undergraduate and master’s programs. Today, in our rapidly changing world, that number has skyrocketed to an average of 21 decisions. Higher education must be prepared to meet these evolving needs. 🎯 Dario Guescini from Seneca Polytechnic emphasised the importance of embedding employability from the very start—when students choose their program. Seneca is focused on guiding students toward the right academic path and demonstrating how their programs equip them for the workforce, which in turn strengthens retention. 📈 Judene Pretti from the University of Waterloo highlighted their unique co-op model, where students alternate work and study terms. She shared how they ensure students gain the necessary skills to succeed in their work terms while using data to attract the right employers for their students. ⏰ Jorge Azzario from Tecnológico de Monterrey stressed the shift from “just in case” to “just in time” education, highlighting the importance of personalization and meeting students where they are. At 1Mentor Inc., we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with these innovators and their teams over the years, witnessing firsthand the transformative impact they’re making beyond their institutions. Thank you for pushing the boundaries of education, where meaningful change is necessary but not always easy to implement. 1Mentor Inc. QS Quacquarelli Symonds Instituto Politécnico Nacional

    Making education relevant for tomorrow
