Our very own Mackenzie Smith, joined by Annette Gear, Andrew Monkman BSc, CES, C.E.T, CRSP, EP, Fellow OACETT, and Brian White, P.Eng., were part of a panel discussing the evolution of mentorship in our industry at the Eco Impact Conference in Calgary this past week! This prestigious event brings together leaders in the environmental industry, and Mackenzie’s experience in bridging generations and mentorship across multiple industries was a valuable contribution to the discussion. Mentorship and skill-building are crucial for younger generations in the workforce, fostering their professional growth, ensuring future leadership, and driving innovation and success across industries.  We're thrilled to have Mackenzie participate in this event! #ECOImpact #Environmental #Sustainability #Calgary #ActiveEarth #ECOCanada #mentorship

Thank you for the honorable mention of our photo in the Members at Work Photo contest! We're thrilled to see our biology team's experience highlighted. We look forward to submitting more of our fun field photos in future contests and sharing more of our team's adventures! 🌍🐟 Nice work putting this on BC Environment Industry Association (BCEIA) Photo credit goes to Ryley Scott, (B.NRSc, BIT)!

We get so many great submissions for the Members at Work Photo contest that we can't help but share more of them. Here is one of our Honorable Mentions: Active Earth! 🌎 The photo shows what was "a magical day for Active Earth team members to take part in an electrofishing course on the Chase River in Nanaimo. Electrofishing is a technique that uses an electric current to catch fish by attracting and stunning them. When performed correctly, electrofishing results in no permanent harm to the fish, which return to their natural mobility state in as little as two minutes after being caught." 🐟 Stay tuned to see more beautiful shots! 📸

This past summer, the Summerland baseball community lost a shining light, Hendriks Taylor or Hendo as he was affectionately known – a young man whose passion for baseball was matched only by his kind heart and unwavering team spirit. Our hearts go out to our Active Earth colleague, Jeff Taylor and his wife, Melissa, on the profound loss of their son. For Hendo, baseball wasn’t just a game; it was a place where he found belonging. To keep his memory alive, Jeff and Melissa have organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to restore and improve the baseball field where Hendo spent so many cherished moments. It is their hope that Field 2 at Living Memorial Park will be revitalized and renamed Field 96, a tribute to Hendo’s jersey number and the legacy he left behind. Living Memorial Park stands as a testament to remembering those loved and lost, and there’s no more fitting way to honour Hendo’s life than by investing in a space that will continue to bring kids together through the sport he adored. This project is more than a field; it’s about creating opportunities for children to feel the same welcome and community that Hendo felt. Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to building a brighter future for the Summerland community. 💙⚾ Click here to donate: https://gofund.me/1f8fb65a #Summerland #SummerlandBaseball #LivingMemorialPark #GoFundMe
