Join Our Team as an RPAS Pilot! AERIUM Analytics is seeking skilled RPAS Pilots to lead operations for our groundbreaking drone-based technologies, including wildlife mitigation at industrial facilities in Northern Alberta.   📅 Contract Duration: April 1 – November 15, 2025 (14 days on/off rotation). Working with the City of Calgary's Living Labs initiative was a standout for us in 2024. As the year draws to a close, we wanted to share some key stats from our experience. 🏆 ✅ Time on-site: 90 days ✅ Drone flights completed: ~1,000 However, it wasn’t just about the numbers. Here’s a look at some of our big #accomplishments: ✔️ Improving and learning: Identified and strengthened key areas in both the drone’s structure and software. ⬆️ Enhanced Components and Features: Tested and implemented major upgrades. fine-tuned both the hardware and software to make flying easier and more intuitive. ✅ Quality Assurance: Our primary location to preform QA on every drone before they are shipped to #operations. 👷♂️ Training the Next Generation of Pilots: working with new and experienced pilots to teach both basic operations and advanced techniques. Thank you to the City of Calgary for providing the resources and an incredible #platform to innovate. We’re already looking forward to the #opportunities the coming year will bring! It’s time to shine a spotlight on our incredible team members who bring our vision to life. ✨   Today, we're introducing Heather Hardeman-Vooys, PhD our Machine Learning Lead.   Heather has been a member of our team for almost 5 years, and We asked some quick questions to learn a little bit more about Her.   How long have you been with the company, and what drew you to this role initially? 👩🏻💼   "I’ve been working with AERIUM since February 2020. A recruiter contacted me in January and shared Project SkySensus as well as the Machine Learning Developer role with me. The mathematician in me was immediately drawn to the complex problems that had evident applications to improving the world as we know it. The teacher in me was drawn to the opportunity for growth."   What aspect of your position do you find most fulfilling? 😄   "Definitely, working with the interns. I did several internships over the course of my degree. While they definitely provided me with skills I needed to succeed at AERIUM, there were also skills I wish I’d picked up during my internships that I hadn’t. My boss has this phrase that I like to use now – “spiteful mentoring.” The general idea is that I mentor our interns how I wish I’d been mentored. To that effect, I want our interns to leave (or stay) with skills that I’ve found important since starting at AERIUM."   Is there a book, movie, or TV show you've recently enjoyed and would recommend? 📖   "Currently, I’m obsessed with Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Both are set in the same universe, have great musical scores, and the dark humor is absolutely hilarious."   What's the best piece of advice you've ever received, and how has it influenced your life? 💡   "The best piece of advice I received was with regards to my PhD in Mathematics. Someone reminded me that I didn’t just get a degree in Mathematics but also in learning. I’ve learned how to learn and that is a skill that can take you really far in life. It’s the number one piece of advice I give to anyone about to job hunt and I think it applies to anyone who’s done any form of learning whether university or trade school or grad school. It also helped me realize how other aspects of my life have just as much nuance." #meetourteam #team #drones #dronesforgood

Wrapping up 2024 trial’s season, our RoBird™ team conducted demonstrations in Oregon, USA, at the beautiful Brigadoon Winery. 🍷   Our Product Manager, Alexa Burgess, led the trials alongside Drone Test Pilot Brandon Thomas, Peter Van Ess, and Agra Ag. Thanks to their dedication and expertise, the event was a great #success! 🏆   The feedback and enthusiasm we received from growers were incredibly #encouraging.   Once again, RoBird™ demonstrated its exceptional #potential for wildlife management in fruit crops. The team also gained valuable insights to refine and expand its applications. 🦅   A special thank you to Alan Mitchell for the support and to Chris Shown and Matt Shown for hosting us at Brigadoon Winery. The stunning vineyard was the perfect setting to demonstrate RoBird™ in action, and your help ensured everything ran smoothly. 🤝   In 2025, we are more prepared than ever to expand RoBird™'s capabilities within the #agriculture sector. Last Thursday, November 28th, our Operations Manager, Matthew Holodinsky, and Drone Test Pilot, Brandon Thomas, visited the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) to present to a class of enthusiastic students and showcase RoBird™. 🦅   It was a fantastic opportunity to #inspire and educate the next generation of drone pilots.   “It went really well. The students were very fascinated with AERIUM as a whole. The RoBird and Operations side of the company really captured their interest. There were great questions from the instructors and students, which led to some insightful discussions after the presentation,” shared Matthew about the session.   The presentation highlighted the diverse #opportunities in the world of drones and their unique applications across various industries, offering something for everyone. 🤝   A big thank you to Sarah Kades Graham for organizing the session, and to Allister Schreiber and Stephanie Hogewoning for your support.
