🔥 “I used to harvest from morning to sunset.” In #Syria, extreme heat is keeping farmers like Tawfiq Ali indoors until evening – a stark contrast to years past, when cool breezes allowed them to work from dawn to dusk. The land has grown so dry that farmers must dig as deep as 25 meters to find water. Once self-sufficient, many farmers now face economic hardship. Throughout #COP29, we’re amplifying voices like Tawfiq Ali's to highlight the human cost of climate change. #ClimateVoices

Gender equality is key to building a world where we all thrive together. 🤝 In Pakistan, we partner with local organizations like Karakoram Area Development Organization KADO who are supporting gender equality and women's empowerment in their communities. 💡 Meet Mehrunna, a community leader who operates a school and vocational centre, and advocates for women's education. 🍁 Supported by Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada
Mehrunna from Nagar Valley, Broadening Horizons: A Single Mother’s Path to Prosperity Mehrunna’s story is one of courage, resilience, and unwavering determination. Married at 15 and widowed at 28, she found herself solely responsible for raising her children and providing for their future. With no clear means of income, Mehrunna started small—working with NGOs, growing and selling vegetables, and later, running a poultry farm. Despite suffering setbacks, including a devastating gas cylinder blast that destroyed her farm, she rebuilt her life and provided for her children. Over the years, she not only ensured her children’s success but also served her community by operating a school, starting a vocational center, and advocating for women’s education. This documentary showcases her journey from hardship to community leadership. Let's encourage women to be leaders in their communities. This documentary is brought to you by Karakorum Area Development Organization with support from Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP), Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada & Aga Khan Foundation Canada #kado #WomenEmpowerment2024 #documentary #Nagar #womensupportingwomen #SocialWork #leadershipdevelopment #personalgrowth
