Welcome to week 9 of 10BY10. This week Avii tackles three emerging breakthroughs. The first is a demo of NotebookLM, and experimental platform by Google. Notebook LM can act as your AI research assistant synthesizing your notes and documents. When you upload the documents that are central to your projects, NotebookLM instantly becomes an expert in the information that matters most to you and allows you to query the key themes and patterns with accuracy. One of its new tricks is an audio overview of the content. Here’s the link to NotebookLM so you can try it out yourself: https://notebooklm.google As part of the demo Avii touches on AI, authenticity and persuasion. Check out the first paper she refers to, showcasing an AI chatbot’s ability to battle conspiracy theories. Beliefs in conspiracies that a US election was stolen incited an attempted insurrection on 6 January 2021 illustrating how deeply held these beliefs can be and the persuasive power of AI: https://lnkd.in/gBWteSWj As an illustration of NotebookLM’s audio summary, Avii uploads a newly released scientific paper for review. Thanks to the wizards at Google this feature shows how far voice AI has come. It’s worth noting impressive elements in its synthesis like humour, analogies, overlap and overall authenticity. Technology like this can mean a breakthrough in how, how much, and how quickly we can learn and grasp complex topics with the help of AI. Entertainment quality is a subjective judgement, but objectively, this can transform learning and development from corporate onboarding and training to primary education as AI tailors to an individual’s preferred learning modality. For those that follow the 10by10 series and geek out on the content itself the summarized paper has far reaching impact. It explores one of the key topics that are the unlock for elevated AI reasoning - training AI systems to self correct with reinforcement learning . We’re witnessing the rapid step change from Generative AI as chatbot to the beginnings of AI as reasoning model, which will rapidly lead to the next stage of true AI agentic systems. Check out the full article on here: https://lnkd.in/g3nnukwm To drive the point home on this rapid evolution in AI capability is a quote from this week’s blog by Richard Tobaccowala, underscoring the need for reinvention and reevaluation of where human value can generate the greatest impact. “Knowledge will be free and every knowledge workers job will change in 2025. Knowledge when it comes to facts, figures, data and the like will be meaningless since everyone will have the same access to information. If your firm is built on knowledge bases or your position is based on controlling knowledge it is time to re-think the model. The key will be wisdom, nuance, voice, taste as well as perspectives, points of view and plans of action around data, information and knowledge.”

Welcome to week 7 of 10BY10! This week we're taking a different approach, with Avii's summary being served in a podcast interview format - covering a recent report by Stats Canada on AI Occupational Exposure in Canada and the impact on the labor force. How I use it: Every morning I drop 5 technical papers on AI and ML from arXiv (many of which are technically dense and over 40 pages) into google's illuminate platform and instantly transform them into a series of 6 minute engaging podcasts - just enough for my morning dog walk and to decide which ones to dive into further.
