The Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) International Forum is currently taking place in Bangkok, Thailand until December 5, 2024. Both a global community event and a space of radical personal transformation, the Forum brings together feminist, women’s rights, gender justice, 2SLBTQIA+ rights, and allied movements, in all our diversity and humanity, to connect, heal, and thrive. We're so excited to introduce to you the ACGC delegate for the 2024 AWID International Forum, Rehma Khan. Rehma is a South Asian researcher and advocate focused on the intersection of cultural identity, sexual health, and education, and aims to contribute the lived experiences of immigrants living in rural communities, particularly South Asian immigrant families in Canada, to the global conversation on sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). Rehma is also a 2023 Top 30 Under 30 recipient, and a current (2025) ICN Youth Delegate. Rehma expects the Forum will offer additional insights into intersectionality which align with her work on understanding how culture, social, and political contexts shape the experiences of immigrant people living in Canada. Follow along this week for more from Rehma on her experience at the #2024AWIDForum

The 2024 rendition of Confluence, Where Leaders in International Cooperation Meeting, was a smashing success! In October, leaders from all across the Alberta International Cooperation sector gathered at the Juniper Hotel in Banff for three full days of connection, sharing, and professional development. Under the skillful facilitation of Jenn Hoffman and Kathy Arney, the Confluence program included outdoor activities, workshops, presentations, and discussions around anti-racism, decolonization, gender equity, leadership strengths & weaknesses, and burnout solutions & resilience. Guest speakers during the program included Karri-Lynn Paul & Veronica Torres (Coady Institute), Ronna Schneberer (Forest Fix), Stephen Legault (Author of 'Taking a Break from Saving the World'), and Barhet Woldermariam (Centre for Race and Culture). Thank you to all those who joined us for Confluence 2024 and stay tuned for more content to come, including messages and video testimonials of confluence participants' experiences! #ACGCConfluence #International Cooperation
