The AME team was in Kamloops last Thursday for another stop on our provincial tour hearing from members about BC's draft Mineral Claims Consultation Framework, which is due to be implemented by March 26, 2025. Members shared ideas and concerns, and highlighted the need to answer questions about implementation, the scope and timing of consultation, and ensuring BC remains a primary jurisdiction for mineral exploration investment. They also talked about the need and their ideas for protecting confidentiality as the new process is finalized in the coming weeks. A huge thank you to Kamloops Exploration Group for their support in organizing the session. AME, Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) and Canadian Diamond Drilling Association are pleased to present the 19th annual Toward a Safe Day Every Day Report with findings from the Canadian Mineral Exploration Environment, Health and Safety Survey. The 2023 survey saw 53 participants and 8 million hours reported. AME invites all junior companies, major companies, government geological surveys, diamond drilling contractors, geophysical contractors, and any other companies or contractors who carried out exploration related activities in Canada in 2024 to fill out the Environment, Health & Safety survey. The survey takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete, and we thank you in advance for helping us make our industry safer by sharing your experiences. 👉 Read the report for 2023 activities: https://lnkd.in/gcvuSR4P 👉 Fill out the survey for 2024 activities: https://lnkd.in/di3sRBK

Last night, the AME team met with members and others in Nelson. They expressed concerns about the province’s draft Mineral Claims Consultation Framework, which is due to be implemented by March 26, 2025 – and shared great ideas about how the draft can be improved. Like many others, their concerns and ideas included the need for clear timelines, clarity on the scope of consultation in the framework, and protection of identity and IP through the process. Thank you to everyone who took part, and a special thank you to the Chamber of Mines of Eastern BC for hosting the event at their fascinating offices in Nelson – which are well worth a visit!

Last night, the AME team met with members in Cranbrook. We heard ideas about practical changes to the province’s draft Mineral Claims Consultation Framework, which is due to be implemented by March 26, 2025. They raised serious questions about whether the framework will apply to private property and put forward sensible solutions like creating firm timelines and defining the impacts that are to be consulted on. Members also clearly asked for government to take a transparent and open approach with all involved in upcoming Mineral Tenure Act updates. Thank you to everyone that took part, and a special thank you to the East Kootenay Chamber of Mines for hosting and supporting such a productive meeting – it's the voices of our membership that drive AME.

AME is confirming that it does not support the current draft Mineral Claims Consultation Framework (MCCF) that has been proposed by the provincial government. We will continue to work with government to seek amendments to the draft MCCF to ensure a process that treats everyone involved in the process fairly, protects their intellectual property, and is not cost prohibitive. Don’t forget: We will also continue to listen to our members through a series of meetings for members throughout February in Cranbrook, Nelson, Smithers, Kamloops, Vancouver, online and in Nanaimo. Details are available on our website here: https://lnkd.in/gMjG3_NP
