🌟 Celebrating Excellence in Maritime Achievement 🌟 I’m thrilled to share that my esteemed colleague, Captain Alex Rueben, has been awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Maritime Achievement! 🏅 This prestigious award, a collaboration between the Government House Foundation and the Maritime Museum of BC, recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to BC’s maritime interests across areas such as science, technology, business, and culture. Alex’s dedication to the marine industry spans over three decades. He has been a relentless driver of progress—an initiator, innovator, and visionary. Alex retired from the Royal Canadian Navy | Marine royale canadienne after 35 years of service and went on to build the Industrial Marine Training and Applied Research Centre (IMTARC), now known as Camosun College's Coastal Centre. He also founded the West Coast Shipbuilding and Repair Forum, and then helped found what I consider to be his most remarkable achievement, the Association of British Columbia Marine Industries (ABCMI). I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Alex since ABCMI’s inception almost 10 years ago. ABCMI, one of the largest member-driven organizations on Canada’s West Coast, has flourished under Alex’s leadership. Whether it’s organizing impactful industry events, building opportunities for Canadian companies in global marketplaces, advocating for our sector at the provincial and federal levels, or fostering innovation in ocean and marine technology, Alex’s passion, enthusiasm and hands-on approach have touched every facet of the association’s work. On behalf of the ABCMI Board of Directors and myself, Congratulations, Alex—you are so deserving of this honour, and then some! 🎉 #Leadership #MaritimeAchievement #BCMarineIndustry #Teamwork #Visionary

Canada’s Veterans include women, youth, immigrants, and Indigenous people. This day is a day we pause to reflect on the sacrifices of so many.
