Every June, ATCO proudly celebrates National Indigenous History Month. Throughout the month, we dedicated ourselves to meaningful engagement and education through impactful activities: ➡️ Cavalry FC Indigenous Peoples Celebration Match: Presented by ATCO, the match featured special performances, traditional ceremonies, and Indigenous art and music. ➡️ Lucy Tries Soccer: As part of ATCO’s partnership with Cavalry FC, we delivered the “Lucy Tries Soccer” program to Indigenous community schools in the Treaty 7 territory of southern Alberta. Cavalry FC players and staff read the book to the students, followed by some friendly competition. ➡️ Indigenous Pop-Up Markets: Hosted in our Calgary and Edmonton offices, the markets offered a platform for Indigenous vendors to share their work and stories, while fostering greater appreciation and support within our communities. ➡️ Indigenous Awareness Training: We launched our new and refreshed Indigenous Awareness Orientation Training program, covering key aspects of Indigenous history, culture, and our commitment to Indigenous Relations. ➡️ Powwow at ATCO Park: We hosted our second annual National Indigenous History Month Powwow with the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. The event featured singing, drumming and traditional dances. Read more about how we honoured National Indigenous History Month: https://lnkd.in/gkTb-Azh #NIHM2024

On June 5th, the City of Calgary experienced a massive water main break, resulting in a state of emergency and mandated water conservation efforts for city residents. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is rooted in a responsibility toward our planet and future generations. As we face challenges of climate change, it becomes increasingly crucial to take action to mitigate. As a step towards this goal, ATCO EnPower is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Shell to proceed with the first phase of the Atlas Carbon Storage Hub. This hub aims to store industrial emissions from Alberta's Industrial Heartland region. This partnership represents a significant investment in environmental stewardship and technological innovation, with the first phase expected to be operational by 2028, utilizing CO2 volumes from Shell's Polaris carbon capture project.
