About us

ACT – Autism Community Training specializes in providing evidence-informed research, resources, and training to support neurodivergent individuals and their families, as well as community professionals. We offer a variety of live and web-streamed events that are often recorded and provide valuable information and resources to the community. Additionally, we provide advocacy and support through community outreach and targeted training, both in-person and virtually. Our AID Search tool simplifies complex autism information, and our new Hub now focuses on anxiety, behavior, gender diversity, mental health, self-injury, sensory issues, and suicidology. This caters to the diverse needs of our communities across the lifespan and in multiple languages.

  • Allison is the Community Liaison Officer here at ACT and has been with us for a year and half. She is passionate about supporting the Autistic community. Allison provides Managing Distressed Behaviour training – a neuroaffirming approach that teaches caregivers and professionals what to do or not do, to support individuals at risk of experiencing distress. ☀️On a lighter note, her favorite local restaurant is Washington Avenue Grill, and she spends a typical Friday night arriving in Harrison with her children and husband to spend the weekend away from the city. When asked if she would plan a vacation to a big city or the beach, she chose beach all the way! Thanks Allison!

  • It is heartbreaking to hear about the passing of a neurodivergent young person in Surrey, whose unique perspective and potential were tragically cut short. Sending care to the family, friends, and community affected. We remain committed to working together to create a safer, more supportive world where this never happens again.
