It feels like it was just summer. Winter fieldwork is being carried out by Bailey Environmental Consulting Inc. throughout western Canada. We are so grateful for having such diverse projects in unique habitats to work on and contribute to. See you in the field!

We would like to give a shout out to any environmental personnel working during the October 19-20 atmospheric rain event. We were working at multiple locations. This is the first time we needed to build a shelter to conduct turbidity monitoring. Well done team!

Always a gorgeous time in Prince Rupert! Thank you to Jason Scherr at the Port of Prince Rupert for organizing the Marine Mammal Program Advisory Working Group every year. A brilliant collaboration and knowledge sharing from a broad range of backgrounds. Upwards of 100 scientists, regulatory agencies, technical specialists and more, participated both in person and online! We even lucked out with the weather :)

Thank you to all the speakers the ESC conference this week, with a special shout out to Mike Champion, RP Bio., P. Biol. with Sitka Environmental. Mike nailed the theme of this year’s conference with some really insightful thoughts on ESC Culture. To quote him ‘ESC is where Safety was 20 years ago, but we don’t have 20 years to catch up’. October 11 is global hydropower day. Bailey Environmental has been working on hydroelectric projects within British Columbia for two decades and is proud to celebrate the positive impacts of sustainable hydropower on people and communities within BC and around the world.

Keep learning and working that brain! Spend time with people that know more than you do. Be inquisitive. And have fun! Terry is an amazing botanist and all around naturalist and I love doing surveys with him. While our focus was plants, we also found some amazing fungi- all three life stages in one spot! Wild!
