While we were reviewing our shoring model against the architecture model and the structure model, we found that the shoring wall NEL is shy than the soffit of the strip footing by around a couple of feet in the wall and over 5 feet around the corner, which makes it very critical as the height between the tieback centerline and the NEL above the pile socketing depth, which will for sure stop the construction and exposes the developer, owner, and builder to standby time and additional shoring with the high force rates! This issue can be solved by ensuring the shoring wall ends a couple of inches below the strip footing soffit, which adds another row and tiebacks! Northstar Development To Buy QRD Met Project Under Receivership For $11.6M The Met was set for 2245 McAllister Avenue in #Port #Coquitlam, about half a block west of the provincial courthouse. For the site, Quarry Rock Developments was planning a six-storey mixed-use building with 80 #residential units and 19,530 sq. ft of #commercial space, in addition to a public plaza. The property was owned by Quarry Rock #Developments (McAllister) Inc. and beneficially owned by Quarry Rock Developments (McAllister) Limited Partnership, both of which were the subject of the receivership proceedings that were initiated by #Edmonton-based Canadian Western Bank (CWB). After counteroffers and negotiations, the Receiver entered into a sales agreement on September 19 with NorthStar Acquisitions Ltd. — also known as Northstar Development — for $10,000,000. After last-minute competing offers were received ahead of the court date, the offer was then improved to $11,600,000. The transaction was then approved by the Supreme Court on November 20 and is expected to close on January 22. What is the elevator hoistway construction tolerance? Is it CSA Group A23 standards concrete tolerance? Or does the Technical Safety BC checklist have any specifics for this? If the elevator hoistway is smaller by a couple of inches, .. in the structure drawings, is it that big of a deal? Sneak peek at our #ACBIM service! From our recent project in the City of Mississauga. While we were reviewing the facade model, which we created from the windows schedule, with the structure model, we found that the soffit step from thickening the slab by 3 inches, we found that this soffit step was not accounted for in the window schedule, interesting, for sure, and way more interesting that this happens in 3 typical floors in this tower, and in higher floors, where the windows always get fabricated based on guaranteed sizing not site measurements! How much this would cost .. hard to estimate but you can easily double the cost per square foot for these couple of panels multiple with the number of floors, with the going rate for window wall! .. you can easily say $57k. MAD updates construction progress on new Lishui #Airport in #China MAD architects is wrapping up work on their new Lishui (LIJ) Airport in #Zhejiang Province, #China. The project, which is expected to be delivered by the end of the year, yields an approximately 129,000-square-foot #terminal that will help serve an expected five million travelers by the year 2050. The design is meant a aviary metaphor set against a mountainous landscape. Ma Yansong described it as being "not greedy for big, but pursuing convenience and humanity, and pursuing a dialogue with the natural environment." MAD says it likewise "redefines how #infrastructure can be both functional and deeply tied to the land it inhabits."
