"In June 2024 I was helping a friend repair his roof and suffered a fall. Knocked unconscious by the fall, I was rushed to Nanaimo General Hospital by ground ambulance. I was later flown to Victoria General Hospital for emergency surgery to correct a brain bleed. Thanks to lifesaving care being provided quickly, I'm happy to report I've made a full recovery. Thank you BCEHS!” – Brett Go to bcehs.ca to leave your own message of thanks for a BCEHS paramedic or emergency medical call taker. #ThankfulThursdays #Gratitude #Paramedics #911 #Ambulance

BCEHS was honoured to present Vital Link Awards to three Langley siblings for helping to save their father’s life after his cardiac arrest last September. “There’s some fear for sure but surprisingly I was pretty calm; I just knew I had to put the training I learned to use” – said Sava in recalling his actions that evening. Sava performed CPR with the guidance of an emergency medical call taker, after his sisters, Sofia and Nina, called 911. At the ceremony in Surrey, the family was also able to thank meet and thank paramedics and the emergency medical call taker and dispatcher involved in the response. See the emotional reunion and learn how the Savkovic siblings helped save their father's life. @ctvvancouver

Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites has lived and breathed paramedicine since he was a high school student. His multifaceted career with BCEHS spans over 40 years. From working as a private medic for celebrities, dignitaries and royals to participating in the Public Response Unit as a paramedic in the Vancouver Police Department’s Public Safety Unit, Brian has experienced his fair share of high-profile paramedic work. But, he says, it’s the everyday calls with members of the public that have been the best part of all. “I’ve had an amazing career. I’ve been so fortunate. We get invited into people’s worlds. We meet people on an intimate level, and it’s humbling. Honestly, it’s the best job in the world,” Brian says.
