About us

The BC Lung Foundation began as an anti-tuberculosis society in 1904. For nearly 120 years, we've explored and treated TB, lung cancer, COPD lung transplants and asthma, helping the one in five British Columbians who struggle with lung health diseases. The BC Lung Foundation is a trusted, authoritative voice for lung health research, patient programs and advocacy.

  • When you donate to the Holiday Seals campaign, you are supporting important initiatives like the Breathe Project! The BREATHE (Building Resilience to Emerging Airborne Threats and Heat Events) Project is a community-based initiative in partnership with Simon Fraser University that teaches community members how to build DIY air cleaners to improve their indoor air quality. BREATHE workshops are held throughout the province for people vulnerable to the health impacts of wildfire smoke exposure, such as older adults, and those living with lung conditions like COPD, asthma, and pulmonary fibrosis. Learn more at bclung.ca/diyaircleaners Donate online at bclung.ca/donate Team Members pictured: Prem Gundarah, Dr. Anne-Marie Nicol, Genevieve Cheng, Riley Condon #holidayseals, #donate, #holidaytradition, #bclungfoundation, #lunghealth

  • On Thursday, Canadian creditors will vote on the landmark Big Tobacco settlement of $32.5 billion proposed by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. At first glance, this might seem like a victory in the fight against an industry responsible for decades of harm. But beneath the headline figure lies a sobering reality: most of this money — $24.7 billion — would be handed to provinces and territories with no strings attached. BC Lung CEO, Chris Lam weighs in via this opinion piece in the Toronto Star: https://lnkd.in/etBWDAsG

  • When you support BC Lung this holiday season through the Holiday Seals campaign you're supporting our incredible asthma education camps! 🎄 These specialized, fully-subsidized camps offer a fun, educational setting for children ages 8-10 (with physician-diagnosed asthma) to learn about their asthma and enhance their management skills. Kids who live with asthma can breathe better, and lead healthier, happier lives – they just need to learn how! • Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in BC. While it can build up in homes and workplaces, most indoor spaces still haven’t been tested. Fortunately, BC has a thriving community of advocates, public health officials, doctors, scientists, technicians, and others who are working to make a difference.
