  • Last summer, the Native Bee Society of BC invited nature lovers to BC Parks on a ‘bee-venture’! 🐝 Supported by the Spark Fund, this pilot project took visitors to E.C. Manning, Blanket Creek, and Kokanee Creek Parks, where they helped track the threatened Western Bumble Bee on bee walks and bioblitzes. Observations shared through iNaturalist will help deepen our understanding of these vital pollinators and the wildflowers they forage. With bee BINGO cards in hand, participants learned to identify bees in a fun and accessible way, contributing to community science.     A huge thank you to Teck Resources Limited for supporting this initiative! Together, we’re creating hands-on ways to connect people with the natural world and our buzzing friends in BC Parks.

  • “My father spent every moment he could exploring the property, maintaining the land, and gazing out at the ocean and the incredible views. One fond memory I have is camping at Cactus Point, the stunning rocky tip at the property's edge. We were fortunate enough to see a pod of orcas passing by; it was a special moment that epitomizes how unique this place is, and why my father loved it so much.”      We’re raising $500,000 to protect this beautiful 372-acre parcel of oceanfront land on Saturna Island. Every dollar you give will be matched by a generous donor, so please consider joining our effort and donating today: https://lnkd.in/gskNv5Xh

  • “What's beautiful is how health, education, and conservation work in harmony to improve the well-being of our youth, communities, and environment. The more we learn about nature, in nature, the healthier we get, and the more we want to protect it. Together, we're working to build a culture of conservation.” - Jennie McCaffrey, VP of Health and Education, BC Parks Foundation    At the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP16) in Colombia last October, BC Parks Foundation proudly shared our successful programs and innovations, while gathering new insights to enhance our work at the intersection of health, education and biodiversity conservation.    Learn how our initiatives, such as nature education, the national nature-prescription program PaRx (Park Prescriptions), and land conservation, are helping advance this global vision by visiting bcparksfoundation.ca/cop16! 💚

  • Icy, a glacier-monitoring collaboration between the BC Parks Foundation, BC Parks, Parks Canada, and the University of Windsor, will be coming to select provincial parks across BC this summer. Users can snap glacier pictures at photo stations and upload them to help us monitor glacial change over time and contribute to important glacial landscape research. There are 15,000 glaciers across BC and they hold a unique role in the ecosystem. Long term monitoring of glaciers through photos will help scientists anticipate future trends, understand how glaciers respond to climate change, and inform glacier change models. Partners such as Teck Resources Limited play a crucial role in making this remarkable initiative a reality by providing support and empowering these impactful programs.
