September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which recognizes the ongoing impacts of the residential school system in Canada. All BCAA Service Locations and Auto Service Centres will be closed on September 30. As part of our reconciliation journey, this summer BCAA and Evo Car Share team members had the opportunity to complete a four-part conversation series on Indigenous history and culture with Teri-Ann Bell, a First Nations woman from the Dakelh Nation in Fort St. James, BC and invited guests. This series included conversations about what “Indigenous” means, first contact with Indigenous Peoples, residential schools and the Sixties Scoop. We're also raising funds for local Indigenous organizations through a team member giving opportunity and continuing to donate to Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS). This National Indigenous Peoples Day, we are spotlighting Teri-Ann Bell, MBA – a First Nations woman from the Dakelh Nation – who designed and facilitated an internal learning series to support BCAA team members in learning more about Indigenous history and the invaluable contributions of Indigenous Peoples today. After working in management consulting for over 10 years, specifically in change management and Indigenous Relations, she chose to start her own business, All My Relations Consulting. Her business focuses on helping people and businesses move towards Truth and Reconciliation in an authentic and productive way. "I thrive in bridging the gap between Indigenous views and Western views," says Teri-Ann. "My greatest joy comes from learning, and unlearning, alongside clients and businesses so that both perspectives (Indigenous and Western) are seen, heard and respected." To learn more about All My Relations Consulting, Teri-Ann would love to hear from you at allmyrelationsconsulting@gmail.com
