We help DSPs, music labels, distributors, and artists accurately track play counts for invoicing and royalty payments

About us

We help music labels and artists track their songs to collect royalties. Beatdapp is a tracking system that authenticates, verifies, and validates media streamed in real time. It reduces the tracking discrepancies between Digital Service Providers (DSPs) and rights holders, increasing royalty revenue for rights holders while limiting legal exposure, expensive audit costs, and lawsuits for DSPs. Think of it like a PWC for music play count! "When the major labels realized their market share was shrinking—not because independent music was thriving, but because fraudsters were disguising themselves as independent artists—they started pushing for action. They are now calling on streaming services to address the issue, to implement a third-party fraud detection system. Their message was clear: ‘This needs to be fixed because we are victims.’ For major labels and rights holders with extensive catalogs, the losses are staggering—millions, even hundreds of millions, up to a billion dollars. The financial stakes demand immediate attention." Andrew Batey dives deep into the challenges of streaming fraud, how it impacts the industry, and what needs to happen next to protect rights holders in the latest episode of Audio Talks HARMAN International 📢 Don’t miss this thought-provoking conversation. Streaming Fraud’s Silent Toll: How Honest Artists Get Caught in the Crossfire ❌ At All That Matters in Singapore, Andrew shed light on one of the most overlooked aspects of streaming fraud: collateral damage. Fraudsters don’t just inflate streams—they create intricate networks to obscure their tracks. In doing so, they pull innocent artists into their schemes, whether intentionally or not. These fraud networks act like digital camouflage: 🎵 Fraudulent artists disguise themselves among legitimate artists by mimicking their play patterns or sitting on the same playlists. 🎵 Devices and accounts stream hundreds of artists, making it hard to identify the true target of manipulation. The result? Honest artists get caught in the crossfire, their data skewed, their reputation questioned, and their royalties diminished. At Beatdapp, our advanced fraud detection models untangle this web. We identify the fraudulent “needle” hidden in the haystack of genuine plays, isolating bad actors while safeguarding the integrity of honest artists. Streaming fraud doesn’t just steal royalties—it undermines trust in the entire music ecosystem. Let’s work together to ensure fairness for all creators. 🌐 “Imagine organized crime taking $100 million in cash, converting it to Bitcoin, and paying off streaming farms to play what appear to be random tracks. But in reality, those tracks belong to shell companies in different countries. They may only get 50 or 60 cents on the dollar back, but it’s clean, cross-border money they can now use freely—often for legitimate investments. This is the scale and sophistication of fraud we’re up against.” In a recent Music Tectonics podcast, Beatdapp’s Andrew Batey dives deep into the vast, organized nature of music streaming fraud and the powerful measures needed to combat it. 🎧 Don’t miss this essential conversation on fraud, tech, and the future of music streaming. During ADE, Beatdapp’s Andrew Batey joined a panel of industry experts to unpack the issue of music streaming fraud and discuss essential solutions. Here are some key takeaways from the session: 📉 Escalating Fraud Tactics: Fraudsters have evolved beyond basic bots. Now, they manipulate real user accounts—often hacked and obtained from the dark web—to simulate organic streams, making detection increasingly complex. 💰 Impactful Examples: In one instance, royalties were rerouted by hijacking artist profiles, with fraudsters redirecting payments to themselves instead of the rightful creators. This type of fraud affects thousands of artists, underscoring the financial toll of streaming manipulation. 🤝 A Collective Defense Led by Beatdapp: Addressing streaming fraud requires a concerted industry effort. As a leading force in this battle, Beatdapp collaborates with rights holders, DSPs, distributors, and other key partners across the ecosystem. Through sophisticated detection methods and proprietary analysis, we identify and intercept fraud without penalizing authentic engagement. 🛡️ Legal & Compliance Shifts Ahead: The legal landscape around streaming fraud is shifting fast. Compliance requirements and legal accountability are tightening across platforms and distributors. As recognition of fraud’s impact grows, digital music platforms and their partners may soon face new standards and expectations, bringing fresh momentum to industry reform. Combating fraud is critical for preserving trust, securing artist income, and protecting platform integrity in the music industry. 🚨 Why Is There So Much Fraud in Music Distribution? 🚨 DIY distribution has transformed music, giving independent artists unprecedented reach—but it’s also opened the door to massive fraud. With over 120,000 new songs uploaded daily, fraudsters exploit low barriers in the industry, costing billions in revenue each year. A new Billboard article highlights this critical issue and the urgent need for reform. Universal Music Group’s recent $500 million lawsuit against TuneCore’s parent company, Believe, underscores a tipping point for the music industry. Here’s what’s at stake: 💰 Billions in Lost Revenue: Fraudsters use a variety of tactics to exploit platforms and capture revenue that should go to genuine creators, creating a broken system that siphons value away from legitimate artists. 🔍 An Urgent Need for Oversight: The sheer volume of uploads makes it nearly impossible for distributors to verify every track, allowing fraud to slip through the cracks and thrive. 🎯 Beatdapp Is Leading the Charge 🎯 At Beatdapp, we’re on a mission to secure the future of music by tackling streaming fraud head-on. Our team of expert analysts and data scientists, paired with advanced machine learning models, provides real-time fraud detection and prevention across the entire music ecosystem. "Every artist across the platforms we monitor earned 21% more last year because we exist. Whether they know it or not, we shifted a massive amount of market share across the board. The difference is, if you’re a major label or large catalog owner, you saw even higher returns due to the system-wide impact, meaning larger catalogs generate more in aggregate." 💡 Want to learn more about how we are shifting tides in the industry? 🎧 Catch the full podcast with Andrew Batey on HARMAN International for more information: https://lnkd.in/ge7zVg_f #MusicIndustry #StreamingFraud #Beatdapp #DigitalRights
