About us

Best Work Yet is a training and facilitation company based in Toronto. We believe that really great, inspired work is too often slowed down by personal and workplace obstacles. We know that with some targeted, customized training we can help overcome these obstacles and promote creativity and teamwork! People can work together to create amazing things. As well as our great suite of workshops, there are three things that we think make us different: Our facilitative approach, practical workshops and our belief that one size doesn’t fit all. Facilitative Approach: Our workshop leaders are not lecturers. Our clients tell us they come out feeling engaged. We believe this is because we are listening as much as we talk. We take a facilitative approach to have people engage, share with, and learn from one another. And this is really important, because we can read the room and give them what they need for their work and priorities. Our clients tell us this makes all the difference. Practical Workshops: During our workshops, people work on their real projects and tasks so the workshop produces results directly, rather than just giving concepts to apply later. So, at the end of the day, the team has moved forward on their work. They’re feeling excited that they’ve accomplished something. One Size Doesn’t Fit All: We believe it’s important to give people different tools and approaches that work with their unique styles. We work with their strengths. Ultimately, we want to help them to get their work done and achieve their goals. Perhaps most importantly, we give options, so people can choose the concepts that work best for them, rather than providing a “one size fits all” solution. When it comes to your people, we help them get out of their own way to get their best work done and we would love to be part of your company’s success. To do that, we offer workshops that help build skills on three levels: individual productivity, team performance and next-level impact.

  • Conflict and leadership go hand in hand. Don’t just take it from me, let’s chat numbers! Statistics shared by Lead Psychologist Shawn Bakker at Psychometrics Canada revealed that over 93% of Canadian HR professionals consider conflict management a top-notch leadership skill. However, only 17% say leaders are actually good at dealing with conflicts. And here's the kicker, 73% point the finger at poor leadership as a major trigger for conflicts. While building trust with your team and filling their emotional bank accounts will help to make conflict management easier, that takes time. Here are 3 things to keep in mind when handling conflict in the moment: 1. Focus on what's useful in the conversation and be open to feedback. 2. Remain respectful (adress the issue rather than attacking the person). 3. Remember that every person involved in the conflict has their own perspective. Here's the post from Psychometrics Canada: https://buff.ly/4dc8iyI

  • Do you see things online and think "Yup... I already know this?" I'm gonna guess yes. But here's the thing: knowing something and actively applying it are two different beasts. The real question is, are you leveraging your skills to their fullest potential, or could there be room for growth? If you're the expert at these things then you can keep scrolling, but if you aren't... Next time this scenario happens, consider taking these steps: 1. Reflect on the depth to which you're currently applying the knowledge. 2. Seek out opportunities to push your skills to new heights. 3. Zero in on one habit you can cultivate to propel yourself forward. 🌱 We're passionate about not just acquiring knowledge, but also sustaining and evolving it. 💡 Be honest, when you read this post did you think "I already know this!"? #roomforgrowth #businesstips #leveragingskills

  • My FAVOURITE part of doing what I do? Ok... I have a lot but for the purpose of this post I want to share one! I ran a time management ⏰ session years ago. One of the particiapnts went home and shared the techniques she learned with her husband. She found the mind mapping skills from the course so helpful that she taught it to her kids. But the awesome part is that years later they are STILL using the techniques they learned 🎉 and her husband reached out have a session run for his own sales team. Not only do I love hearing that the tools I share are applicable for everyone, no matter what generation - but they also stand the test of time! This is why I do what I do. I love helping people have fun while doing their best work. #mypassion #whatido #practicalapplication

  • I ran a six-month coaching program with a client group and the changes I saw were incredible! The CFO said "You helped me find a level of empathy that I didn't know I had and didn't know I needed." We worked on a lot of different things throughout our sessions, but this one I wear as a badge of honour! What's a piece of feedback a client shared with you that made your day? #empathy #developempathy #businesstools

  • A mistake I see in my field is people immediately writing off someone that lacks empathy... But here is the thing, empathy CAN be learned! First you have to be aware of your area for improvement. Here are some signs that you take your empathy up a notch: ▶️ You interrupt people (because what you have to say is more important) ▶️ You're unaware of how your team feels about you, each other or themselves ▶️ You don’t seek feedback because you don’t have any areas you need to improve ▶️ You don't know anything personal about your colleagues If these resonate with you, it may be time to build your empathy muscle. 💪 ▶️ Practice active listening. Before you jump in to correct someone, let them finish what they are saying, and ask clarifying questions. ▶️ Ask open ended questions in meetings to better understand how the team feels and allow them to share opinions. ▶️ Ask for feedback. I recommend an anonymous survey to start so people feel safe. ▶️ Take the time to get to know people on a personal level (not just work). Try a trust ice breaker (boring facts is my favourite) to start the conversation. You go first. Empathy is one of the most crucial (and often underutilized) skills of a strong leader. What’s something that has helped you develop empathy? #lackempathy #selfimprovement #businesstalks

  • Often times the hardest part of boundaries is... Communicating them! Whether working on professional boundaries, or personal boundaries when we need to communicate something difficult we can get too concerned about the other person's reaction. So we dance around it. 💃 BUT, when we tailor our message to soften the other person's reactions and we shy away from delivering the message - we can actually make it worse. Instead of focusing on not triggering them in the first place, what we should focus on is "how do we get back on the same page?" #settingboundaries #maintainingboundaries #professionaldevelopment

  • During a meeting, no one speaks up so you assume they must agree... right? 🙊 But weeks later suddenly they have a problem! Why are they smiling and nodding in a meeting but then coming back later? In situations where individuals express agreement during a meeting but later provide pushback, there could be several reasons. Here are a few potential considerations: 1. Misunderstanding - they may have misunderstood the content or implications 2. Conflict avoidance - they might want to avoid immediate conflict but then as the issue lingers they express themselves 3. Fear of confrontation - they might not be comfortable voicing dissent in a group setting 4. Changing perspectives - they may have changed their mind once they had time to think about it 5. Decision dynamics - they may have gone with the group consensus and on their own had time to reflect on it To address this, foster a culture of open communication: 1. Encourage them to express their opinions freely 2. Recognize that everyone has different styles and may need time to process the information 3. Have regular check-ins so people have time to share if their thoughts have changed What tips do you have to help improve office communication? 🗣 #officecommunication #meetingcommunication #businesstips
