On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Kayla Yama as the permanent President and CEO of Boost CYAC, effective immediately. Kayla joined Boost CYAC in 2022 and stepped into the Interim President and CEO role earlier this year. Since then, she has led the organization with vision, determination, and an unwavering commitment to our mission while revitalizing our operations and establishing a strong organizational culture. Under Kayla’s leadership, in partnership with staff and partners, Boost CYAC has achieved significant milestones, including: - Increasing revenues: exceeding our budget targets, Boost is on track to have a record fundraising year for 2024. - Reducing costs: we are keeping our costs low, ensuring the dollars raised from donors and received from governments are going towards front line care. - Improving service access: shortening our Trauma Services Waitlist by more than 50%, reducing wait times from 16 months to just 7 months. These accomplishments are a testament to Kayla’s dedication to advancing trauma-informed, child-centered services for our community. Kayla’s leadership has revitalized Boost CYAC, ensuring that we continue to deliver the highest standard of care and support to the children, youth, and families we serve. With her proven track record of strategic insight and operational excellence, Kayla is well-positioned to guide Boost CYAC through the challenges and opportunities ahead. We are confident that her leadership will strengthen our organization and deepen our impact across the community and with our delivery partners. Please join us in congratulating Kayla on her appointment. We look forward to working together to build an even brighter future for Boost CYAC. Thank you for your continued support. Because every child deserves to be safe
About us
Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (Boost CYAC) is a creative community response to child abuse investigations. A partnership among local community and government agencies, it brings together all professionals involved in child abuse cases under one roof, for a coordinated, seamless, interdisciplinary response to child abuse victims in Toronto. The CYAC space is accessible, safe, and child and family-friendly. We have a child interview room, and a child examination room where physical and sexual abuse examinations can be performed. The interview rooms are equipped with recording equipment, to document and preserve a child’s statement so it can be used in the criminal justice process – and reduce the child’s trauma in repeatedly telling his/her experience of abuse. Our team of highly-skilled professionals collaborate on cases, take actions that prevent re-victimization, and support the child’s long-term well-being, as well as non-offending family members. Our goal is to provide a centre of leadership, promoting excellence in child abuse prevention, support services, research, training and education – a collective community response to protecting Toronto’s children from abuse. Boost CYAC’s community service partners in the City of Toronto include: Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, Native Child & Family Services, Jewish Family & Child, Toronto Police Service, SAFE-T Program (Halton Trauma Centre), Child Development Institute, and the Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Program (The Hospital for Sick Children).
