  • 🎺 "Trumpets signify a call to arms, inviting us to join a crusade against the forces around us; a triumphant victory song against the enemy." 🎺 Trumpets flared throughout the OWN.Cancer campaign close event, honouring the soon-to-open Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Center and a historic fundraising campaign. When asked to bring together an event for remarkable top donors, OWN.Cancer cabinet and key partners, our team was truly honoured. The building would open not even 45 days later, creating unique circumstances and challenges throughout the planning. It took the utmost care, attention to detail and patience from all teams. As we share more about the event experience here, our team would like to thank all of the AHS staff and leaders who helped bring this to life and for their tireless and dedicated efforts. We knew the event needed to be elegant and almost regal, without being too "over the top." The aesthetics and design of the event were led by our partners at OneWest Event Design. Our teams were inspired by an image of both a bell and a trumpet, utilizing elegant gold and bronze anchored on rich black surfaces throughout, punctuated with modern and elegant greenery. A 100' long black carpet and OWN.Cancer on-brand gratitude messaging enhanced the exterior arrival experience. Inside, guests explored a reception format event, a custom menu designed by Chef de Cuisine of Hotel Arts, a fully wrapped, branded stage hosted important remarks for the evening and an LED totem-enhanced soon-to-open Donor Recognition Wall. The event was scored by a surprise performance from Order of Canada recipient and decorated performer, Jens Lindemann. Additional trumpeters popped up on mini stages to sound the "antiphonal" call of triumphant victory as we led into an emotional campaign close tribute video. The evening's most triumphant moment was the announcement of a final gift of an astounding $30 million dollars from the Owerko family and the Campaign Co-Chairs announcing the total funds raised by the OWN.Cancer campaign and donors of $293 million dollars! Congratulations to all involved in this incredible journey - we are so lucky to be a small part of it. The new Esports Arena at Bow Valley College, designed by Alberta-founded Stantec, in collaboration with BVC and Cana Construction, is making headlines for its investment in the future workforce of Canada’s $5.5B gaming industry. The first of its kind in Calgary, this new school supports various game-related programs and could become home to a future Bow Valley College varsity #eSports team, and of course graduates who will contribute to this growing part of the Canadian and global economy. My Brand Alive Inc. team and I are so excited to support Tasneem Rahim, Andrea Ostergard and the BVC team on a memorable launch event later this month. Being a part of important elements that play a role in the future of the Canadian economy and business means so much to us in our work as event strategists and producers. Check out this Global News story about the new arena! ⤵ #corporateevents

  • Throwback to one of our all time favourite events! In the height of the pandemic, our clients at connectFirst Credit Union asked us to help them launch their historic rebrand to their employees. With the stakes high and event restrictions tight, we partnered up with our friends and colleagues at OneWest Event Design to bring this unique drive-through activation and province wide roadshow to life. In Calgary, a drive-around experience peppered with live entertainment, DJ tunes and an in-vehicle photo opp culminated in a 200'+ immersive experience with a robotic LED lighting tunnel and a customized box of branded goodies to commemorate the occasion. Around Alberta, OneWest's incredible team brought a unique parking lot experience to each employee, offering cF's people the chance to "meet" the brand for the first time in a decked out, branded vehicle. We continue to be proud of our colletive safety management of this project and have loved watching the connectFirst brand flourish in the marketplace ever since. For more than 80 years, connectFirst has celebrated great milestones in Albertans' financial journeys - from supporting local business owners build their dreams to farmers feeding the nation and more. Today, they have more than 40 branches across central and southern Alberta with a mission to make money make a difference and to do what’s right for every member.

  • Event profs know that mental health can be a moving target throughout the year, with the ebb and flow of our industry and event cycles. Here's how Owner & Executive Producer Lisa Marks CSEP BComm is checking in with her mental health at the 2024 half-point! ⤵

Things I’m cutting out in the back half of 2024 to support my mental health: ✂️ Keeping my phone in my hand when I leave my desk but don’t leave the house (entirely subconscious) ✂️ 9pm email checks (usually in bed, not healthy or necessary!) ✂️ Lunch hour zoom calls (aiming to eat 90% of my lunches in the kitchen or outside) ✂️ Saying I’ll do the remainder of my daily cardio later on because I’m anxious to start my work day - and then I don’t (the difference between 8:15am and 8:30am isn’t critical!) ✂️ Anticipatory anxiety (I’ll just leave that one there) ✂️ Diet Coke (RIP my sanity but my naturopath has linked my love for DC to my off kilter blood work and immune system) 6 months (and a few days) of the year left. What is on your list of goals big and small? #mentalhealthmatters #corporateevents
