Earlier this year, we joined colleagues from across B.C.'s business community to make it clear that the economy needs to be job one. Yesterday, alongside Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, Canadian Federation of Independent Business, BC Chamber of Commerce, Mining Association of BC and ICBA | Independent Contractors and Businesses Association, we had an introductory meeting with MLAs from the official opposition to discuss the importance of a strong economy. We're excited to meet with Diana Gibson, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, next week and look forward to connecting with other elected representatives in the coming weeks.

"If you're running a household or a business, you have to mind your spending. You can't just spend more than your income and borrow the difference—sooner or later, that catches up with you." The same principle applies to government spending. David Williams spoke with Global News following the release of our latest report on B.C.'s fiscal spending. #BCEcon #BCPoli

🚢 A few weeks ago, the BCBC team visited Trans Mountain's Burnaby terminals to see their operations and the newly expanded Trans Mountain Pipeline (TMX) firsthand as part of our #BuildingProsperityBC campaign. Seeing the project up close and learning about its impact reminded us just how important major projects like TMX are to B.C.'s economy. So, what did we learn? 🌊 The Trans Mountain pipeline was first built in 1953! 🚚 The expansion has nearly tripled the original pipeline’s capacity. 💰 Building the expanded TMX pipeline added $52.8 billion to B.C.'s economy and created over 67,000 jobs between 2018 and 2023. 📈 Over the next 20 years, TMX is expected to add $9.2 billion to B.C.'s economy, create 36,000 jobs, and contribute $2.8 billion in taxes to support services like healthcare and education. 🤝 Since 2016, Trans Mountain has invested over $6 billion in contracts with Indigenous businesses, creating jobs and supporting local communities.
