** Friday Fundamentals ** Today we feature one of our CAASA Primers: Investigating in Real Estate & Private Lending. In this, we are treated to an explanation of both of these distinct asset classes (which are often thought of as one since mortgages are a large part of the market), their sub-classes, and the things that investors need to keep in mind as they look to allocate to this usually illiquid area of the market. We are currently surveying members for our upcoming primers and thematic publications line-up. Please contact us to get involved! ** Throwback Thursday ** Let's take a look at our many conferences over the years. We organized one in 2018 and six in 2022 - thanks to the support of our members and growing CAASA team! Today we look at our Family Office Summit 2023 conference in Toronto. We had a record-breaking 35 single family offices in attendance (all vetted by our staff). 40% of attendees were investors such as SFOs, MFOs, and wealth managers; 52% were asset managers; and just 8% were service providers. Marry that with super content and we have another winner! You can view the program here: https://lnkd.in/g4C5tZtX All of our publications are available here: https://lnkd.in/gTwUCzPP

** Friday Fundamentals ** Today we feature one of our CAASA Primers: Blockchain & Cryptoassets Explained. In this, we explain the difference between blockchain and digital/cryptoassets, ways that investors can think about these opportunities and possibly include them in their investment portfolios (and in what form/via which security/instrument), and the potential challenges ahead for this relatively young asset class. Today we look at our first non-Canada conference, the Family Office Cayman Experience on Grand Cayman in January 2023. We welcomed 19 families to the island to experience its lifestyle and planning benefits as well as sample a few of our members' asset management and service provider offerings. We organized this with Dart Family Office and look forward to producing more like this. You can view the program here: https://lnkd.in/gb3KcEfN All of our publications are available here: https://lnkd.in/gTwUCzPP We would like to note that at all of our conferences we strive for a 40% investors, 40% managers, and 20% service provider attendee break-down and have achieved this in virtually all cases. This, we believe, is a golden ratio that provides value to all attendees. We also like to keep our conferences smaller (200-250 max) and would only increase delegate maximums if we have the requisite (40%+) block of investors already registered. We're in this for the long-haul and for member value!

** Friday Fundamentals ** Today we feature one of our CAASA Primers: Canada's New Liquid Alternatives. In this, we explain what a liquid alternative fund is under the 'new rules' (promulgated in January 2019), how their flexibility vs. a traditional mutual fund can aid investors, and the additional knowledge that advisors need to know to ensure their clients have the most appropriate allocation to these funds.
