Announcement / Promotion for Calgary 2025 “Mineral Exploration Group Society” (MEGS) Program Officer By: Rene J. Abreu - January 21st, 2025 During 2024 I wrote comments and short chronicles on the Calgary’s Mineral Exploration Group Society (MEGS) monthly presentations and yearly social events. I must say that I have enjoyed every single word written, not only for my satisfaction as an amateur writer, but also for my genetic passion for geological explorations and adventures. Kind of a “gambusino” then… Under the O&G and uranium discoveries incentives, explorers gathered in Calgary in the middle of the 1970’s. The MEG technical monthly presentations emerged and were established practically as the primary focus of the Society. Today, even under the time constraints of the modern life, the monthly luncheon meetings continue well attended, informative, updated, innovative, scientific, and financial, welcoming Canada and the world exploration community. For year 2025, in a more formal framework, I have joined the MEGS Executive Board Members, as the Program Co-Officer, along with the Lead Officer, Mrs. Marilyn Becerra, B.Sc. Geology. The Program Officer is responsible for locating and arranging suitable speakers for the Society’s functions. A “Luncheon Presentation” may include technical (Geoscience) and financial information as the MEGS membership are mining professionals, government employees, University professors, students, individual investors, investment consultants, as well as the general public. MEGS also provides sponsorship opportunities such as Corporate Membership, that includes sponsor recognition at all MEGS events, and Luncheon Series Sponsorship. In case that you or any of your contacts might be interested in sharing exploration cases or your company projects, please contact any one of us. We have the following dates available for 2025: April 11th (possible), September 5th, October 10th, November 7th, or suitable dates for 2026. · Marilyn Becerra – mbece575@mtroyal.ca · Mineral Exploration Group Society - www.megcalgary.com · Rene J. Geo (President); Langi Cheng, MSc (Secretary); Rene J. Abreu, MSc (Co-Officer); Oswaldo Angulo, BSc Geology (Co-Officer).
