Calgary Cares Community Services hosted its inaugural new employee orientation on Friday, September 27th, with an outstanding turnout and great success. During the session, we covered essential company policies and procedures and introduced our new app, which streamlines employee tasks such as logging in, scheduling, progress tracking, and incident reporting. A special thank you to Alberta Paramount College for graciously hosting the event and contributing to its success.

AHS staff are hosting local health and wellness fairs every Tuesday afternoon at Butler Memorial Park this summer as part of AHS’ Healthier Together initiative. In Edmonton we’re partnering with the City of Edmonton to improve access to healthcare for people who are experiencing houselessness. We recognize there are barriers that prevent vulnerable populations from seeking health services. Healthcare professionals working the fairs can provide wound care, STI and blood-borne infection testing, assessments for referrals and follow-up treatment. They hand out hygiene kits, first aid and wound care kits, dental kits, sunscreen, bug spray and tick keys. Water and snacks are also available. This work is about meeting people where they are to offer healthcare services and supports. AHS is grateful to the City and other partner agencies and organizations for their continued support as we carry out this important work.
