Canada's productivity figures are slipping, and now the second-lowest in the G7. Part of this is because workers are not getting the skills they need to deliver in a competitive market place. That’s a wrap on Calian’s first Hackathon! The creativity and collaboration of participants across our organization inspired us all. With 18 presentations, individual and team participants showcased their innovative ideas for leveraging AI to drive Calian’s future and push the boundaries of technology. Canada is facing a labour shortage across multiple skilled trades and sectors, including housing, manufacturing, and others. Drivers include a shortage of apprenticeship placements and a shortage of instructors. New people simply cannot be trained fast enough to address the shortage.
