The Ontario Private Campground Association, operating under the name - Camping In Ontario - represents over 350 independently operated campgrounds in the Province of Ontario, Canada. Our members are an important source of employment and economic prosperity for rural communities across Ontario. The work of the association focuses on three areas: Education: We host educational sessions throughout the year both in person and virtually. Our education focuses on areas unique to our industry. Our main in-person event is our annual convention held each November. Advocacy: As a proud member of the tourism industry, we advocate to all levels of government on the benefits and challenges of our industry to municipal, provincial and federal officials. Marketing: We publish an annual magazine (60,000 copies in 2023) which features information on over 350 campgrounds located in Ontario. The Ontario RV and Camping Advocacy Team, comprised of members of ORVDA, Camping in Ontario, and the Canadian Camping and RV Council, held an Outdoor Hospitality Day event on December 5, 2024, at Queen's Park in Toronto, the Ontario Provincial Legislature. Approximately 100 Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) and parliamentary staff were on hand to hear special presentations from Natalie Conway, CAE , of ORVDA, and Alexandra Anderson of Camping in Ontario, who spoke on the key issues facing the Ontario camping and RV industry. The Honourable Mike Schreiner, Leader of Ontario's Green Party, MPP for Guelph, Ontario, and the Honourable Stephanie Bowman, Liberal MPP for Don Valley West, also spoke to the group, sharing their camping and RV experiences. Following the presentations, the team held one-on-one meetings with several of the MPPs, to discuss a range of topics including Mat Tax Reform, RV Apprenticeship Training, and Infrastructure Development. Ontario RV and Camping Advocacy Team members on hand for these meetings included ORVDA Board members John Krohnert, Aaron Langille, Rob Edwards, and Dean DelMastro. Representing Camping in Ontario were Rebecca Cabral, Sandra Galego, Dave Hilhorst, Cyndy Bonello, and Ellie Abucay Giammattolo from Camping in Ontario and the Canadian Camping and RV Council.
