A fascinating angle of the latest CPAB enforcement action is that it was prompted by information gleaned through the inspection of a "foreign regulator" and self-reported by the Canadian accounting firm in question. In the last year, the PCAOB has asked firms to self-declare issues of compromised independence. This is one example of how regulation in Canada will suffer under a Trump administration intent on deregulation, including ensuring that the PCAOB is toothless once again: https://lnkd.in/g5UErVWu

Fascinating to watch how the prospect of potential US tariffs has taken over the entire news cycle in Canada. Here's what we said more than two weeks ago: "If you're the boss at a Canadian corporation and you're not talking to your (CPA) CFO, then you've lost the game already. The spectre of coming hikes to tariffs and a new, Trump-style brand of protectionism will impact every Canadian company that exports to the United States." https://lnkd.in/gZWjbgdR
