  • My Dearest Members of the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation,   It is with a mix of emotions that I write to you today as today marks my last day serving as the Executive Director of the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF). It has been an honor and a privilege to serve in this capacity for the past 10 years. This journey has been more than just a job to me; it has been my life's work, my passion, and my calling. During my time with CACCF, I have had the immense pleasure of working alongside some of the most dedicated and compassionate addiction counsellors in the world. I have witnessed firsthand the incredible impact that each and every one of you has had on the lives of individuals struggling with addiction. Your unwavering commitment to this cause has inspired me every single day, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this extraordinary community. I want to take this moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to Tom Gabriel and the late Jeff Wilbee for believing in me and entrusting me with the responsibility of leading CACCF. Their vision and guidance have been invaluable to me, and I will forever cherish the memories of our time together. Jeff was the  greatest mentor I have ever known and he always ended every phone call with " Keep your stick on the ice kid". I have been honored to keep that stick on the ice each and every day of my CACCF career. As I embark on a new chapter in my life, in a new country, with my new husband, I am filled with both excitement and sadness. I have accepted a position with the Orlando Police Department in the Overdose Investigative Unit, where I will continue to contribute to the ongoing battle against the opioid crisis. While I am eager to take on this new challenge, I will undoubtedly miss CACCF and all of you dearly. In closing, I want to thank each and every one of you for your dedication, passion, and tireless efforts in the fight against addiction. It has been an honor to serve as your Executive Director, and I am eternally grateful for the memories we have shared. Though I may be leaving CACCF as the Executive Director, I will carry the lessons and experiences I have gained here with me always. The friendships we have built, the challenges that we have faced together and the solutions we have created, will be forever part of my core memories of my lifetime. I hope I was able to create that for you as well. Together, we have learned and accomplished so much. You can always reach me as we continue to all work together towards our common goal of supporting those who face the complex human issue of addiction. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart. Sincerely, Crystal Smalldon Former Executive Director Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation
