About us
The Canadian Mental Health Association,Windsor-Essex County Branch has been part of the health care delivery system of this community since 1971. As a charter of the Canadian Mental Health Association, CMHA Windsor-Essex County Branch is part of a national network of 135 service providers, 33 of which are in Ontario. Mental illness is actually very common. More people experienced mental disorders last year than any other illness - more than stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy combined. According to the most recent (1996) statistics available from the District Health Council, there are about 62,000 people having trouble with their mental health in Windsor and Essex County. CMHA offers a range of services to help virtually all people in our area. We have services for the most seriously mentally ill, we have services for people who are working through some of life's difficulties, and we have educational services that target the public. We will gladly assist any individual seeking information or resources on mental illness and mental health through Information and Referral Services by calling 255-7440.

“Primary care has been battling a human resources crisis for the past three years that continues to escalate, fueled by wage inequalities and a lack of government investment in our highly valuable and skilled workforce. Recruitment and retention issues have become a daily concern as staff vacancy and turnover rates have reached 40 percent annually. Primary care is not sustainable as the foundation of the health care system if we do not receive an ongoing equitable investment to keep the workforce in place.” – Valerie Winberg, President, Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic Association #ForUsForYou 🏷️ Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Division
