Today marks a significant milestone in our history—the anniversary of our very first board meeting! On November 13, 1950, the founding members of what was then called the "Opera Festival Association of Toronto" gathered at the National Club for their inaugural meeting. This meeting was the start to what would become a cornerstone of Canadian opera. Shortly after, they announced the 1951 season with THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, MADAMA BUTTERFLY, and FAUST—operas that set the stage for the company's future! Today, we celebrate the vision, dedication, and legacy of our board members over the past 74 years. 📷: Clockwise, left to right: Edward Johnson, Nicholas Goldschmidt, Ettore Mazzoleni, Arnold Walter, Herman Geiger-Torel (back to camera).

Canadian Opera Company reposted this
Last week, we announced an exciting new partnership between the Canadian Opera Company and Michelin-recommended fine dining restaurant Restaurant Lucie alongside The Social Catering & Co! This collaboration is a wonderful extension of my longtime friendship with Yannick Bigourdan, and we look forward to elevating our patrons' visits to the opera house with thoughtfully curated and impeccably prepared items that cater to the senses as holistically as the opera-going experience itself. This partnership officially launched on October 30th with an exclusive dining event at our Centre Stage: Ensemble Studio Competition, featuring a menu crafted by Lucie’s award-winning Executive Chef, Arnaud Bloquel. Through this partnership, theatre lovers can now enjoy exceptional culinary moments that elevate their visit to the opera. We can’t wait to share these unforgettable experiences with you! 📸: Ryan Emberley https://lnkd.in/d9pe4wVw
