I’m glad to share one of my challenged projects during Sep Shutdown campaign as a PM has been completed safely, in time and in margin of budget. The tank dimensions are 6m in diameter and 8m in height with FRP lined and it was heavily compromised on floor, bottom shell section as well as non-standardized rectangular MW existed and potential concrete foundation repair. Project scope included working with Engineering firm for proper repair scope, cooperating with SCM for competitive bid of construction, and organizing selected contractors for onsite repair. The construction scopes comprised removal of existing FRP for steel works, entire floor replacing, re-shell (360 deg) bottom section, removing non-standard old MW, opening new MW, NDE, hydrostatic test, and new FRP install. I realized the challenges of multiple repair tasks along with this project implementation in term of constraint of SD timelines (~4 weeks). All required activities such as existing FRP removal for steel repair, steel scopes and NDE, tank hydro-test and new FRP install had to be scheduled and calculated precisely in tight manner of construction window. It also required coordinations and prompt supports between multiple departments and contractors. Proper cost study in last year was very helpful to avoid project EAC deflection. Appreciate MERA, Ops, Maint, Supply Chain, CMT, Safety dept, and contractors for this successful project.
