📢 Ten humanitarian crises that barely made headlines in 2024 🌍 CARE’s 2024 Crisis Report highlights ten of the world’s most underreported humanitarian disasters. For the third consecutive year, all these crises are in Africa, where conflict and the climate crisis are increasing the need for humanitarian aid. 🔍 Key insights from the report: ❗Angola: 2.2 million people are affected by the worst drought in 40+ years, yet only 1,956 articles covered it in 2024. ❗Burkina Faso: 82% of 2+ million displaced people are women and children. ❗Malawi: While 40% of the population faces extreme food shortages, women and girls are driving change in their communities despite incredible challenges. Around 35 million people are impacted by these crises. Still, stories of resilience, especially from women leading survival efforts, go untold. These forgotten crises demand our attention and action. Let’s amplify their stories, advocate for support, and come together for those most in need. 🔗 Read the full CARE Crisis Report: https://bit.ly/408tnEs #HumanitarianAid #ForgottenCrises #ClimateCrisis #GenderEquality #crises #crisis #emergency #conflict

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a staff member from CARE partner MA’AN Development Center in #Gaza following this week’s missile attack on a World Food Program (WFP) warehouse in Deir Al-Balah. The staff member, a 42-year-old father of five and a dedicated humanitarian, is one of hundreds of humanitarian workers who have been unjustly killed by this senseless conflict. His death is a stark reminder of the daily threats humanitarian workers face as they deliver critical aid to those in need. We call for a #CeasefireNow to end the bloodshed and unhindered and principled humanitarian access. 📖 Read more: https://bit.ly/4gKbFOu #HumanitarianAid #AidWorkers #HumanitarianWorkers #GazaCrisis #Ceasefire

If we could choose a 2024 Person of the Year…we'd choose Dr. Dima Um Nour. When devastating earthquakes left communities in Northwest Syria struggling, Dr. Dima Um Nour was a constant source of hope and care. As a gynecologist at Al-Amal Pediatrics & Maternity Hospital, run by Syrian humanitarian organization Violet and supported by CARE, Dr. Dima serves 65-75 women every day. For over three years, she has worked tirelessly, providing critical care to women and their families in incredibly challenging environments. Her compassion and resilience shine through in every life she touches, reminding us of the incredible impact of frontline health workers in times of crisis. 💡 Dr. Dima is a true hero, standing with those in need, even in the most difficult circumstances. 👉 Learn more about Dr. Dima’s extraordinary work: https://bit.ly/4gtOO9N #HumanitarianHeroes #PersonOfTheYear #WorldChangers #CompassionInAction #LeadershipInAction #InvestInWomen #SheLeads #WomensLeadership #WomenLeaders
