It’s no surprise that Manitoba and Saskatchewan are struggling with mental health, given the 2024 Mental Health Report Card’s failing grades for access and effectiveness. A major hurdle? Lack of regulation for mental health professionals, unlike Ontario, Quebec, and others.   At CCPA, we’re advocating for change alongside FACT-SK and FACT-MB to ensure everyone has access to the care they deserve. Represented CCPA’s advocacy team at the Public Affairs Association of Canada’s annual conference in Toronto yesterday. I spoke about the success of the Tax Free Therapy campaign to others in the field of public affairs to learn from and celebrate. Gave a big shout out to our whole CCPA team including our amazing volunteers as well as the partners that helped make this happen. Thanks Kyle Larkin for the invitation to present and to all involved in the success of the campaign! Wonderful to learn from others who are pushing for change in various sectors and seeing what we can build on from those learnings. Today, on Indigenous Veterans Day, we recognize the contributions of Indigenous Peoples to Canada's military efforts over the years. These determined volunteers were often forced to overcome many challenges to serve in uniform, from learning a new language and adapting to cultural differences to having to travel great distances from their remote communities just to enlist. The challenges they faced often extended to their post-service life. Les défis auxquels ils ont fait face se sont souvent prolongés dans leur vie après leur service.
