The stigma and general misunderstanding of #ADHD can severely affect an individual’s education, working life, home life, relationships and social life. Let's break the cycle of misinformation by sharing facts, listening to real experiences, and supporting those with ADHD.

Eye colour, height and hair colour are a few traits that can be passed from generation to generation, but did you know that #ADHD is highly heritable, too? Many recently diagnosed adults have discovered their ADHD diagnosis partly due to their child or family member being diagnosed with ADHD! No medical test determines whether someone is genetically prone to ADHD. Hormonal changes that happen during menopause can bring on ADHD-like symptoms, such as trouble focusing, irritability, and feeling down, even for those without ADHD. A global review (Song et al., 2021) found that 2.6% of adults have persistent #ADHD (starting in childhood), and 6.8% have symptomatic ADHD (without confirmed childhood onset), affecting up to 366 million adults worldwide. With staggering numbers like these, it’s clear that a worldwide ADHD strategy is needed.
