About us

CHX Technologies (CHX) is a specialty pharmaceutical company introducing a new, high-strength, sustained-release antiseptic tooth coating which manages the cause of poor oral health -- an imbalance of bacteria in the dental plaque called oral dysbiosis. This coating has first-in-class approvals in Canada and the EU for preventing dental decay in high risk adults. CHX is working on expanding this indication to include periodontal disease and Prevora's use in the management of Type 2 diabetes, systemic inflammation and cognitive decline. Prevora is used by hygienists where high risk adults are found -- the physician's office, the hospital serving Special Needs and Complex Needs patients, and in geriatric care. These venues seek to improve oral health cost-effectively as part of integrated care and chronic disease management. There are some 125 million adults with poor oral health in North America and Western Europe, making it the largest unmet need in pharmaceuticals.

  • A new meta-analysis has found inverse associations and an inverse dose-response association between fluoride exposure and children’s IQ. Refer to https://t.co/h5EjWOM1V2 (Taylor KW, Eftim SE, Sibrizzi CA, et al. Fluoride Exposure and Children’s IQ Scores: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. JAMA Pediatr. Published online January 06, 2025. doi:10.1001/jamapediatrics.2024.5542) It is time for some new thinking about who has poor oral health and how best to target treatment of oral dysbiosis.

  • A new model of dental care is urgently needed to serve the #homebound. This group cannot get to the dentist, cannot afford the dentist nor tolerate invasive care. https://lnkd.in/g3a9pYWR What justifies serving this unmet need? Its simply the right thing to do. And at some point, we're all going to be homebound. This is a key role of for #Prevora. Painless, rapid care against more cavities and treatment of chronic oral inflammation which is readily delivered by hygienists and nurses anywhere.

  • About 8% of American adults have ADHD. ADHD often comes with poor oral health, partly because of dental fear and anxiety. In fact, 7 in 10 adults with mental health disorders won't sit in a dental chair. So, a new, pain-free, non-invasive model of dental care delivered outside of the dental practice is urgently needed. And now it is available. Use #Prevora.

  • It seems the keystone periodontal pathogen, P. gingivalis, plays a causative role in diabetes. See Gingipain from Porphyromonas gingivalis causes insulin resistance by degrading insulin receptors through direct proteolytic effects | International Journal of Oral Science The results of this assessment provide a new strategy for preventing diabetes by targeting periodontal pathogens. But how? Of the 16% of American adults with diabetes, very few are treated for periodontal infections. Think #Prevora. It treats chronic oral inflammation quickly, painlessly, consistently in a matter of minutes.

  • #Periodontitis, both in terms of extent and severity, exhibited a dose-dependent effect on the risk of developing arterial stiffness (#atherosclerosis) over a 10-year period, with a relative risk ranging from 1.27 to 1.51. These findings suggest a causal relationship between gum disease and CVD. Periodontitis Is Associated With Arterial Stiffness as Measured by Serial Cardio‐Ankle Vascular Index (CAVI): A 10‐Year Cohort Study - Kanpittaya - Journal of Clinical Periodontology - Wiley Online Library Yet another reason to integrate management of chronic oral inflammation into overall medical care. Use #Prevora. Non-invasive, quick, patient and provider friendly.

  • Seniors with poor oral health at baseline had a 2.4-, 2.2-, 2.3-, and 2.2-fold increased risk of physical hashtag #frailty, hashtag #sarcopenia, hashtag #disability, and hashtag #mortality, respectively over 2 to 4 years. https://lnkd.in/gCgi9bC Frailty is the most feared disease amongst seniors, after hashtag #dementia. It means a loss of independence. Motivating seniors to come listen about preventive dental care is hard. Most think they brush their teeth and get a cleaning now and again, which is sufficient. But there is little difficulty getting seniors to listen about avoiding frailty. And when they are listening, talk about hashtag #Prevora. The most preferred and appropriate approach to seniors' dental care.

  • The CDC reports the prevalence of #diabetes continues to grow to about 16% of all adults today, up from 10% in 2000. See chart. Gum disease is a big, yet often overlooked, contributor to diabetes. Yet fewer than 10% of American adults with gum disease are treated for this condition. Clearly, management of both diabetes and gum disease isn't working well. A new model is urgently needed. Part of this new model of care is #Prevora. It quickly and painlessly resolves oral inflammation, and can be readily integrated into a diabetes clinic.

  • About 15% of the hospital beds in Canada are occupied by Alternate Level of Care (#ALC) patients. They are too sick to go home or to long-term care and too well for acute hospital care. Many ALC patients never leave the hospital. And many ALC patients have poor oral health (ongoing decay and inflammation in the mouth) which impedes #recovery, advances #frailty and #malnutrition, and puts the patient at risk of #confusion, heart problems and #respiratory events. Sending the nurses around to brush teeth on a daily basis, has commonly been unsuccessful. So what to do? Hire a turnkey service to apply #Prevora intermittently on ALC wards. Prevora manages the bacterial cause of worsening oral health. Painlessly, quickly and with strong approval by the patient.

  • Worker absenteeism has soared since COVID. The following chart illustrates this new trend in Germany and similar charts have been produced for the UK and other developed economies. Long COVID is real and affects oral healthcare in several ways. 1. cancelled dental visits 2. more bleeding gums -- 29% of Long COVID patients complain about sore and bleeding gums. 3. an inability to tolerate and even afford invasive dental care. Long COVID sufferers often need more gentle, more accessible, less expensive oral healthcare. Think #Prevora.
