For the past 469 days, we have been seized with the fate of the hostages taken by Hamas. Today, we are relieved that there is reason to hope many will soon reunite with their loved ones. But we will not rest until every hostage returns home. Read our Interim President Noah Shack's full statement on the hostage agreement.

More than 13,000 Canadians united to call on the federal government to stop the pro-Hamas Hizb ut-Tahrir from spreading its dangerous agenda. With your help, our community and allies have made our voices heard—and we've made an impact. Today, Hizb ut-Tahrir announced that it is cancelling the conference, which was originally scheduled for January 18. This is important progress in keeping Canadians safe. We are relieved that this conference isn't happening, but we also know that the fight against extremism cannot stop. We continue to urge the Government of Canada to ban Hizb ut-Tahrir as an illegal terrorist organization, as is the case in the UK and Germany. The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs reposted this
One week from tomorrow, a gathering will take place in a Canadian city of an organization that two of Canada’s closest allies – Britain and Germany – have banned as an illegal terrorist group. Hizb ut-Tahrir is not only a threat to Canada’s Jewish community for its glorification of the Hamas October 7th massacre and its antisemitic rhetoric, but it threatens the safety, well-being, and values of all Canadians. Time is running short to stop Hizb ut-Tahrir from spreading its hate within our borders. I've written to The Honourable David J. McGuinty, P.C., M.P., Canada's Minister of Public Safety, on behalf of our community and The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs , but we need your help. Please share this message with your network and click the link below to urge the Minister to take two concrete actions to safeguard Canada’s borders and communities: https://lnkd.in/giS4fwVM

“As we saw in New Orleans and in multiple terror plots disrupted in Canada in recent months, radicalization is a serious threat to public safety. At a time when demonstrations in Canada are regularly featuring pro-terrorist rhetoric and calls for violence, authorities need to be more vigilant than ever. We are urging the government and national security authorities to prevent Hizb ut-Tahrir from using Canada as a platform for its dangerous agenda.” - Noah Shack, interim president, in today's National Post https://lnkd.in/gmTqVSyp

Hizb ut-Tahrir is an antisemitic, banned terrorist organization in the UK. It should be listed as an illegal terror organization in Canada and NEVER allowed to promote its dangerous agenda here. We are engaging government and security authorities to take all steps to prevent Hizb ut-Tahrir's Ontario "conference" on January 18.

In light of the ISIS-inspired terror attack in New Orleans, as well as today's news that a Canadian youth has been arrested for allegedly attempting to join ISIS overseas, CIJA renewed its call for the Government of Canada to ban the glorification of terrorism.
