Coffee pricing is a complex and evolving issue, as highlighted in our most recent CAC webinar. Thank you to our expert panelists Ana Wilks, Tyler Baks and Fabian Calderon, Coope Terrazu, for sharing their insights. Panelists emphasized the resilience and beauty of the coffee business, despite challenges like climate change and rising costs. Thanks to greater transparency and stronger connections with producing countries, the coffee industry is better equipped to navigate these shifts. While pricing increases may be on the horizon to address these realities, coffee remains a daily essential for many. Historically, consumers have shown remarkable consistency in their coffee habits, even amid changing market dynamics, which offers optimism for the road ahead. Let's hold tight to this incredible industry and work together to ensure its sustainability and growth. CAC Members can view the January webinar recording on the Member Portal. Registration will be opening soon for our February 20th webinar, "Brewing Concerns: Tariff Effects on Canadian Business". #coffee #coffeeindustry #pricing #sustainability #transparency #resilience

For the first time in history, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in the US has formally included coffee in its definition of a ‘healthy’ food. According to the new regulation, water, tea, and coffee with less than 5 calories per serving automatically qualifies as "healthy". “At a time when consumers – especially younger consumers – are increasingly health-conscious, this designation has the potential to drive consumption, and put to final rest previous misguided efforts to portray coffee as unhealthy,” William Murray, President & CEO of the National Coffee Association USA said in a statement. #coffee #health https://lnkd.in/gKgqe5NP
FDA says coffee with less than five calories per serving is good for your health

Congratulations to the National Coffee Association USA and their president & CEO, William Murray on this important achievement! The FDA's decision to officially recognize coffee as a "healthy" food marks a monumental step for the coffee industry, backed by rigorous scientific evidence. This recognition underscores coffee’s unique health benefits and represents a significant win for the industry and coffee lovers everywhere. #coffee #health
Coffee is Officially Healthy: Today the FDA, for the first time in history, announced that it is formally including coffee in its definition of a “healthy” food. At a time when consumers – especially younger consumers – are increasingly health-conscious, this designation has the potential to drive consumption, and put to final rest previous misguided efforts to portray coffee as unhealthy. Following the NCA’s submission of detailed scientific evidence demonstrating coffee’s unique associations with positive health outcomes, FDA’s new definition specifically includes coffee among foods that qualify to be voluntarily labeled as “healthy.” The FDA also referred to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans in reaching this decision, a process in which NCA has been active. This is an historic milestone - barely ten years ago, the State of California, in a misguided assessment of coffee, maintained that it was potentially harmful - when extensive independent science says just the opposite. It has been a long journey, but science has prevailed. We've invested heavily in compiling and presenting research - independent research - showing that the weight of scientific evidence about coffee and health is clear - and favorable. Today's announcement is but the first step of the next stage - there are many questions about what this means for coffee companies, and we'll be working to provide answers - we strongly suggest that you do not rush to put "healthy" on your coffee products until we have further information. In the meantime, NCA members should see today's member exclusive "Member Alert" (sent 12/20/24 at 4:37pm Eastern) for further details about imminent questions, and NCA's next steps.
